Arthur

No they 'valued' him at 70m and it is ridiculous to say let him go on vacation and just accept squad being one lighter.

All it is doing is exposing his shitty attitude and why Barca were willing to make him part of such a deal.

One lighter? You'd want a guy who doesn't want to be there, thinking at some beach in Brazil featuring in CL?.

Club doesn't count on him, he doesn't want to play for the club anymore, case closed. Don't see why you should hang on formalities in this case. A player like that does more harm than good.

Arthur is stupid to pull this off whether club screwed him over or not. As a player you are also in the business of marketing yourself. You show this kind of behavior it might bite you somewhere later down your career. A club might decide not to pick him up because his ego seems too big.

Just respect the contract and carry out your final months of employment.

No they wanted to swap him with Pjanic not just give him away to no longer be relied upon this season if needed.

Club doesnt count on him from next season.

Doesnt bother me all that much as proves his attitude and Barca were correct.

He has every excuse under sun for him... cant pass forward as players dont move etc. Now he is acting how should be expected to as 'forced out'.

Brilliant decision to force him out it now looks.

Interesting you think all amigos, Rakitic etc can be expected to down tools and not move if club dare to try and 'force them to move'.

You dont think Barca should try to make other players leave?

Doent seem to be your stance on Rakitic etc.
Rakitic is at the end of his career, while Arthur is not. Rakitic should be more than happy to stay on the bench and get his $$$, while Arthur should not. I think you are being unreasonable.

It only won't matter if he can go to Juve and start immediately putting on world class performances week in week out. That would make people forget about everything else very quickly, but it also is not likely to happen.
Being a top professional cannot make up for a lack of talent, but is certainly gives you more leniency and forgiveness from your coach and pretty much everyone else. How many times do you hear fans excuse a player's bad performance with "at least he worked hard," "he was the only one trying," "he is a model pro at the club" etc.

(...)

People only like world-class cunts on their team, not mediocre ones like Arthur.

Nobody will remember how he left Barcelona in 3 months time. It probably won't even make major news, because who really gives a toss other than some Barca fans? Juve fans for sure don't.

It won't matter full stop regardless of when he starts performing, so long as he does. Which also needs the right management, as most circumstances with new players do.

He doesn't lack potential and isn't that much of a cunt. He's just a bit juvenile, but definitely salvagable. He'll also likely play with Cristiano so he has a beacon of professionalism and Alex Sandro who also speak Portuguese right there on his side of the pitch to learn from and mesh with. If he's daft enough to not try to make that work from the start then fair enough. These things are often about a group fit as much as they are about personal responsibility. We'll see.

Sure, this type of behavior can't help him that's for sure. But he's a grown man, if he feels he was mistreated by the club and wants to do the same in return... he can go that route. We don't know what the club did to force him to sign for Juve. If they benched him just so he would sign for Juve and allow the Pjanic deal to happen to make that finance stuff happening, I'd be pissed as well.

Not even sure what your point is.

Rakitic would be entitled to stay and take his wages. Totally agree.

Just as club can try to try and use all they can to make him move.

Make sure apply that to all the players then.

I misunderstood your reply. I thought you were suggesting that Arthur could have refused to leave just like Rakitic.

Folk had already forgotten about him really.

All he has done as backed up his attitude problems.

I apply it to all players. Defended Rakitic many times in similar discussions.

He could have refused to leave.

Juventus upping their financial offer and the input of players such as Alves has played a part as well.

Folk like to play the poor Arthur card as if was just a guy with a dream driven to the brink of self harm by Barca.

Sure, I?d be pissed too. But I would still go out of respect for my teammates. And the fact I am a football player and already privileged in life. I am still inclined to group this with ?spoiled behaviour of current age football players? as we see week in week out rather than a necessary moral stance.

There were many reports in the press that Arthur refused to leave. It's very possible that the club used all means necessary to push him out, and this is what upset Arthur and made him bitter about it. Of course, he could still be professional about it...

Sure, which is why this makes both Barca and Arthur look bad. He doesn't come out of this looking pristine, far from it. It's just that I understand bitterness and anger.
