Actually, I think that he was going to get called. Tite said during his press conference today that he had to make a new call about 30 minutes before the announcement of the full squad because a player just got injured today while training. Later on, it was announced by Gremio that Arthur is injured and will be out for three weeks, so its very likely that he was the player that Tite was talking about.

Not called? Hmmm I am a bit disappointing to be honest. I thought they rate him much higher in Brazil yet they call Renato Augusto but "new Xavi" is not in the squad. Something is fishy here. Either he is not on the level some people here think he is (which is more likely) or Tite is one short sighted guy. I honestly don't believe that injury is the main reason since he would have been ready for WC.

What kind of injury we're talking about?
If he'll only miss 3 weeks he could've still been called up though it's understandable Tite doesn't want to risk, especially with a player who is not established yet in his team so lacks of trainings and time to get integrated into the team before the WC would affect him more.

Arriving in January really ruined the full impact Coutinho could have had this season - and I'm afraid if Arthur arrives in January, we won't see anything of him until the 2019/20 season. Which, given our shambolic midfield situation, is way too late. Need this kid to get integrated as quickly as is possible.
