I literally said in the same sentence "THEY HAD TOO MANY MIDFIELDERS"

Still it's peanuts in today's market. There's a reason for that. They no longer want him as they have a younger, fitter German replacement in Goretzka lined up.

We have plenty of experience in the squad already.

Our experienced players were pathetic against Roma, they went into their shell and were weak mentally.

I’m not for this transfer but if there’s something he brings it’s the opposite of that attitude we saw against Roma.

Right. He brings "pashun."

I think this confirms that we go back to 4-3-3 so thats good at least, Vidal can cover for Messi's ass on the right.

Can anyone make a convincing argument that outweights the negatives this transfer might have instead of repeating the same old schtick like "PEAK PHYSICAL CONDITION" or armchair analysis like he's a World Class player and Bayern are only selling a World Class player for 30m because they have too many midfielders, where half of them aren't World Class.

I want to discuss this transfer without throwing potshots.

He is technical enough for the role he will play. He provides variety and other qualities to complete the squad imo. Also age is a positive, you need experience especially with all the youth entering the club.

Outdated "experience" from players who weren't performing at their best level for years is a big part of what sunk us in CL play the last few years. Suarez, Rakitic, and even Iniesta had been resting on their laurels for a while without actually backing it up in performance at the tournament level for us. Vidal is another player well past his prime hanging onto the same.

We need invigorated, hungry youth that is talented enough to compete for starting spots as early as possible and gives a fresh take on this team and its playing style. Only through real change in our identity will our fortunes in the CL change too. Arthur, Dembele/Malcom, Semedo, etc. are key additions to blood early and shake things up in our core team. Vidal/Paulinho are not good enough to make any notable impact and gives us more of the same.

Do you think the policy that won RM 4 CL's in 5 years was loading up on washed up workhorses and technically limited starters? No, not even close. They bought several talented youngsters (a number of which have succeeded greatly) and made sure everyone in the starting lineup is at the technical level required for their role.

We have lots of experience though. A 442 with Vidal means the entire outfield team will have turned 30 next season except Umtiti, Coutinho and Roberto. So 7 out of 10.

Ronaldinho wasn't exactly fat either when the club hired security guards to pick him up from nightclubs when he was drunk asf.

You people are crazy.

This is peak physical conditioning. Not even the Chinese Dragon had this level of physique.

Incredible!

What a god.

Nobody can touch Vidal, he has the heart of a champion, the body of a Greek God and the tenacity of a lion.

Their midfield is way more stacked than ours, and their manager trusts in their youth, maybe he had some locker room issues but no way he is a deadweight like people claim here.

5 years ago, yes. Today, no.
There are plenty of reasons not to buy Vidal. The board should tell Valverde to fuck off with this transfer demand.

No shit. But some of the users here think we are getting the Juve Vidal. We aren't. We're getting an old, injury-prone, supposed "workhorse" who doesn't care anymore.

Arda 2.0 in the making. Calling it right now.

Can't do anything but hope he'll show the same desire to prove people wrong as Paulinho did. If he does, he can help for sure, just like Paulinho did last season.

Problem is Vidal is a hard case, and could cause troubles in the locker room. It's his attitude that should make us abort this deal, more than his age, his style of play or his recent injuries.

We should have signed Kondogbia if we wanted a workhorse with skills.

The part that's hilarious is that these guys in charge like workhorses, but they're shit at finding the right ones. When real class workhorses are available they go do different teams while we get the washed up old ones.
