Javi was 40m and he turned into the second best defensive midfielder in the world. Maybe this transfer will pay off in a couple of years..

How come Madrid can always spend so much like the oil clubs, win less than us yet also have less debt than us which is decreasing? Atleast thats what they keep saying.

they are able to sell players that dont succeed for them though, big difference to us. They sold Robinho for 42m euros and plenty more sales this summer.

Isco and Illa may not have an impact next season, but they sure both are excellent long term purchases.
And for those who keep asking how Madrid has so many money to spend, I would just say that Isco+ Illaramendi cost them almost as much as Neymar cost us. They even managed to sell Callejon for 10mil, so their transfer balance is almost identical to ours.
I know that Neymar could turn out a big success, but I prefer the way Madrid operate at the transfer window.

Pipita is going to be sold for around 30 millions, plus if I am not mistaken they have a lower wage bill.

isco and illaramendi cost 68m.

thing is, neymar is a cash cow. he is the superstar in a football mad country of 200m that is going to host the world cup. money is rolling into our account from brazil every second as a result of the neymar signing.

i think we have to understand that prices are based on several things, like remaining years of contract, income generation potential, salary at selling club etc. just saying that player x is better than y means x should be more expensive is not appropriate.

People keep confusing debt with expenses,it's like how can a guy whose house is on a mortgage afford a new car, even if they have debt of €400m, they only have to pay interest of around €20m-€30m...and their revenue is almost around €500 and their wage bill is around €240m so they can even afford to spend €100m every season and still be fine....

I believe that it is not established that we have a contract with Neymar to receive a percentage from his image rights. So, I don't know if we will get money back from him. Anyway, my point is, that I prefer transfers of quality players than galactico type of transfers. I want Barcelona to be a successful football team, not just buy players with marketing potential! Hopefully Neymar will be more of Zidane-galactico transfer than a Beckham-galactico transfer!

well, why are madrid able to get 50% of the image rights of all their players? thats a huge part of a star players' salary.

anyway, can u imagine the increased popularity of barca in brazil with neymar? the demand for our games, merchandise, brand etc? Thing is, his price reflect the huge income he generates for the club he plays for. we cant ignore these things when looking at prices. we bought neymar because we really needed a goal scoring wizard on the wings, able to reduce our messi dependence. he is just what we need football wise.

Yeah, you have a point there, but I just hope that his transfer won't compromise our real transfer needs, which are in my opinion two centre backs.

Wait a minute, I believe it was stated at the first press conference that we have secured a percentage of Neymar's image rights. I think Bartomeu said that. There was a huge relief on Neymar's topic because of that. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think he was referring to the percentage of the player himself, because he was partially owned by managers and some company.

They can always sell there training ground for 1 billion, without the dodgy Spanish government they would be in the same position as Rangers.
