Asier Illarramendi

When on form, Di Maria is deadly but you have to figure that he rarely IS on form. Isco is far from slow and could interchange with Ozil centrally and on the right, plus he's only 21 and will likely improve a lot more in the future. Isco is a very good transfer for them.

Spain u21 performance doesn't show much but Isco and Thiago have played well otherwise. Thiago was great in other games than the Alaves one, often being one of the most influential players on the pitch when he was. I don't believe Spain's domination is completely coming to an end. That's just a merit based statement that supports veterans like Xavi, Iniesta, etc. because of what they have done compared to young talents like Isco and Thiago who have yet to replicate that kind of success. At that young of an age, even Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol, etc. would never have been tipped to go on to do such massive things. The fact that Spain's current crop of youngsters look capable of achieving those heights now show that it's well possible that the success could go on for a long time. They likely won't be at the same level of domination over other teams comparatively, but as a team I don't think they'll decline in quality. Right now is more of a transition phase, wait until after the WC when VDB retires and you'll see a shift to the younger generation. If Lopetegui does come in like I predict, then Spain will continue being a class team at the top of football.

Amen! :yes::yes:

he wasn't unnoticed by me, he is excellent

I think part of the blame For Illaramendi being unnoticed was not his lack of talent ( he wouldn't have been selected to play for Spain) but the fact that major sport newspapers and Tv shows only (mainly) talk about Barca and madrid . They don't give too much importance to Other teams unless it relates to Barca and Madrid.

Madrid are doing some good things this summer. Instead of going stupid for Bale, they're building a new project.

Bale is actually part of their project, they want him to be Cristianos replacement in the future. So even if they don't get him this summer, they will try to get him next season. Bales has also said that he would like to play in Spain and we all know his favorite player is Cristiano. Cristiano will more likely en up playing as a center forward the day he can not longer sprint and run as fast as he does today.

So they wanna bench a 70+mil signing? Buying him next season might be too late if he moves to another club before.

I doubt he'll go to another club. He recently said he would like to play in Spain. They wouldn't bench him if they get him. He would play alongside Cristiano. What I'm saying is that they see Bale as the future Cristiano Ronaldo and want to secure him to carry on Cristianos legacy.

I dont agree with Don Andres on Oliver Torres. If he has a good future ahead of him, some big club will buy him either way. It is a Club's job IN MY PERSONAL OPINION to try to buy the best talent from their country as well as produce them as well.

This poaching view has little substance to it imo. What has more substance are things like tv rights and the more core problems with club economic stability. This is all my opinion.

Illarramendi has great vision, passing, intelligence, and his defensive statistics are closer to the Gundogans, Schweinsteigers, Alonsos of this world. As talented as Thiago is i dont think he has the skill set to command as much as a player like Illarramendi does. Illarramendi has the potential to be a multi functional engine while Players like Thiago and Modric are more like important Gears.

Great purchase.

And Bale is wanted by Perez primarily but Ancelotti gave the ok to buy him if the rumors from El confidencial are to be believed. I dont think that Perez is IMPOSING bale on ancelotti and zidane though as much as he imposed a player like kaka on Pellegrini, I expect ancelotti to build a good project with Madrid and if he does then Bale could prove to be a good asset to use over Ozil perhaps in some situations. Maybe even in a front partnership with ronaldo.

Madrid stil needs another defensive midfielder though in my opinion.

Ancelotti has said he wants to build a team that is spectacular and offensive and controls play. He has me a bit in doubt because he said that all his team in the past have played offensive football, that brings questioning into his defintion of it all but someone like him practiced his speech, knows what he said, and the way he said it, i dont think he will go a mourinho way here, he has the pieces to build something good here.

With Carvajal he has the most promising young RB ( AGES 18-22) in the world.
Varane same as most promising CB.
and with Isco and Illarramendi you can also say similar things.

and they are 21,20,21, and 23 respectively.

Add jese and morata which are 20, 21 respectively, this team is looking to be one fore the present and future ( with possible 10 year out look if everything goes well) compare this to having players like xavi and iniesta back in 2003 and looking into the future.

If ancelotti does a good job, then with bale if he accepts the purchase, i dont see why it should be a disaster. Bale offers death at the counter, powerful shot, crossing, intensity.

I wrote a new entry in my blog in my ratings of the In n Outs of madrid transfer window.

Anyone undestanding the discussion about the 42M or 36.3M Sociedad wants for Illarra? His clause is 30M, but read something about taxes (IVA/IRPF)..
