Atlético de Madrid's road to Milano:

* Beat Champions of Turkey
* Beat Champions of Kazakhstan
* Beat Champions of Portugal
* Beat Champions of Netherlands
* Beat Champions of Spain
* Beat Champions of Germany

Sounds like our CL journey last season.

Toughest opposition so far: Netherlands. We messed up mostly in first home game - not scoring more goals against 10 players.

Oblak :worthy:

Anyone know how long Tiago will be out for? I'm guessing he won't play this season but it was October/November when he had the surgery.

If I remember correctly they first said he'll be back in March or April. Maybe his recovery is not going as planned, especially at his age.

Can we just hire Atletico's or Sevilla's scouting team?
Man, would never expect they'd replace Curtois so soon and this good.
Griezmann, Gimenez, Augusto...

This is the biggest surprise for me. To pick up Oblak and for Oblak to perform this well is phenomenal. Oblak does not just have a good defense in front of him, he dictates that defense well, he is commanding and is a great shot stopper.

Oblak was very highly rated GK b4 joining AM ,there is a reason he is one of the most expensive GKs (5th) in the history of the game . while he needed time his quality was never in doubt really

He didn't even need time, he just fit right in.

He didn't even need time, he just fit right in.

He struggled a lot at first when Moya was their league keeper and he was playing the cups.

It's only after Moya's injury where he played consistently that he finally settled in and never saw back again.

It's one of the reasons I rate ter Stegen's performances high, because he's come back strongly in a difficult situation and after a couple of setbacks.

Many GKs lose their confidence and never manage to be the same as touted.

Yes.

Struggled if you watched his first 6 months.

I wouldn't say struggled really, it was just the pecking order. He wasn't really wanted in the first place, they even tried to sell him back to Benfica famously in the same window they got him.

If I remember correctly they first said he'll be back in March or April. Maybe his recovery is not going as planned, especially at his age.

Makes sense. Atleti have so many options there anyway.

Saw a picture of him on the plane back next Filipe Luis. He'll be the forgotten hero of this season for them, probably their best player up to his injury. Certainly his best form.
