Hello fellow Culers,
Just a few thoughts about the coming new season. First, let's keep and promote the Senegal monster, Faye, M. He'll be a valuable addition to our defense and a major investment. Let's keep Fati. He still has the potential to regain his form and confidence. Forget about the two Joao's and move on. Our term will be better without the two. Sale Raphinha, Torres Fernando, and Araujo R. Let's acquire the young Williams if we can. Let's give our captain, Sergi, a well deserved and warm send off. Barca will be back next season and trophies will be won!

Some quotes on next season's squad.

- Javier Tebas (La Liga President): "This year is the easiest for Barcelona in recent years. They know what to do to bring in new players and understand financial fair play well. As they come out of their economic troubles, we'll see if they can resolve a few remaining issues to make the important additions they want. Three years ago Barcelona had a wage bill of 650 million euros, today it is 450 million euros." Via @mundodeportivo

- João Félix's continued stay at Barcelona is becoming increasingly unlikely. The plan is for Ansu Fati and Raphinha to take over in his absence, with hopes of adding Nico Williams as well. @ffpolo @Fati_Future_BallonDor

- Álex Valle will be a first team player next season. He'll be the left-back alongside Alejandro Balde. @totcosta

With Felix, we have all the cards in the hand, as Atleti had with Griezmann when they forced the fee down to half.
Felix didn't convince apart from the first games, Martinez doesn't use him in the Euro as well. Atleti still needs to get rid of him, because he can't wear their jersey again after his words. We're also not desperate anymore, can give him back and keep Ansu as a substitute to Rapha.
So either Atleti gives us a really good condition loan for him again or they get the player back they don't want with high wages.

Tebas just fears a Madrid dominancy now and thus viewership decline for his league after attacking barca for years, while Madrid thrives. Fuck him.

Valle I don't know. Could also be some game to show City we're not desperate to sign Cancelo, so they don't go crazy with his fee.

So here is how squad looks right now.

GK: MATS (#1), Pena (#13), Astralaga* (3)
RB: Fort*, J. Araujo (2)
CB: Araujo (#4), Kounde (#23), Christensen (#15), Cubarsi, Eric, Lenglet, Inigo (#5), Faye (8)
LB: Balde (#3), Valle (2)
DM: Romeu (#18), Casado (2)
CM: Gavi (#6), Pedri (#8), Frenkie (#21), Torre (4)
AM: Gundo (#22), Fermin (#16) (2)
RW: Raphinha (#11), Yamal (2)
ST: Lewa (#9), Roque (2)
LW: Ferran (#7), Ansu (2)

Legend:
will stay
will need to convince Flick in preseason to stay
key players who could possibly leave with a great offer
club will definitely want to offload
#shirt numbers of players registered for first team next season (16 so far but two likely leaving)
* players between first team and Barca Atletic

This is how I currently see things rather than how I would want them to be. I would ofc prefer to sell Lewy and Ferran for whatever we can get but don't see it happen. Would also like to upgrade on Pena but again unlikely with other priorities.

We have 29 total players, Clear overbooking at CB even if we consider Kounde as RB (not sure Flick sees him there unless he won't have another option though), Christensen as DM and Faye potentially cover LB if he stays.

Elsewhere "numbers" look ok but obviously lack of quality at certain positions and unknown futures for some younger players who could leave on loan or be sold.

Don't know how big squad Flick wants but I usually prefer 22-23 players (so basically two players for each position but if there is one thing we did well is we have built a pretty versatile squad so maybe don't even need that but OTOH we also have to consider we have two players returning from longterm injuries and some other injury prone players as well) which opens up doors for BA players. Fort as mentioned if he won't be fully promoted or loaned, but then also likes of Bernal, Darvich, Unai and whoever else will convince Flick to get first team minutes occasionally. Having a shorter first team squad would ofc also be better from a financial perspective.
