Matthias Ginter announces he’s gonna leave Borussia M?nchengladbach as free agent in June: “I’m not extending the contract with Borussia. I’ll start a new chapter in my career, the decision has been made” Fabrizio Romano

Could be a good rotation player, pretty sure he'll end up in Bayern tho...

Should be Mazraoui and Azpi, Roberto needs to be let go as well.

I'd prefer him gone too but I'm sure Roberto will renew. Hopefully won't be anything more than a 3rd CB/6th CM option though. So basically taking over the roles of Mingueza and Puig but probably playing a bit more as I'm sure Xavi will trust him more. If signed on a 2-year contract and significant pay cut as reported and if he can fully recover he could still be a useful squad player for a season or two.

I somehow doubt both Azpi and Mazraoui will be signed but hopefully I'm wrong. Could see Xavi prefering Azpi as he knows him better and because his versatility would allow us to interchange between 4-3-3 and 3-4-3 quite easy. Similar for Roberto who can be used as a RB in 4-3-3 or CM/wide RM in 3-4-3. OTOH not sure how fast Mazraoui could adapt as a RWB.

If Mazraoui is not signed it won't be the end of the world (he's a good player but hardly a can't miss talent) but then we should look for another younger RB who can be integrated into the team (could be through Barca B initially) and eventually replace Azpi and Alves/Roberto within a year or two. We don't have anyone good coming through La Masia at the position right now (at least not that I'm aware of) so we should bring someone from the outside. That said Mazraoui is probably too good of a market opportunity to pass on. Even if he won't make it longterm (and given our history of RBs after Alves that's quite likely) we can always make some money by selling him.

We should still first convince him to join us over other clubs and it could be hard if he'd knew he had to compete for his minutes with likes of Azpi, Alves and Roberto. Of course on paper he should be better than Roberto and almost 40 yo Alves (if he's not then no point signing him) but he could also think that Xavi would prefer to give minutes to those guys over him. And tbf that's a genuine concern which could eventually led to his decision to sign with another team that will offer him a guaranteed starter position.

Of course all of this IF Xavi won't suddenly change his mind about Dest, decide to keep him and he'll improve a lot over next 6 months but don't see it happen and think he'll be gone in summer if not in January already. Although selling him now and going until the end of this season with Alves, Mingueza, Alba and Balde (who Xavi doesn't trust at all it seems) as our FBs is also far from ideal. It really depends on what offers we'll get for Dest though.

Will Alves even stay beyond summer? He'll be 39 next season. Either way he shouldn't be a deciding factor when signing a new RB anyway. Same for Roberto if he stays, fine as 3rd RB and like our 5th-6th CM but that should be it.

Mingueza i don't see having a real chance here, we'll have to see with Balde. Umtiti hopefully leaves. Dest i guess will be sold.

RB*/Azpi, Eric/Pique, Araujo/Lenglet?, Alba(Gaya)/Balde?/Azpi

*Mazraoui or someone else

Looks okay-ish, but still needs a proper CB signing. Then maybe Lenglet could even leave as well, unless Xavi wants to keep him for being left footed or Pique retires.

Busi, Nico, Frenkie, Pedri, Gavi in midfield. Plus Roberto how it looks like and well probably Puig if he so desperately wants to continue his career on 45 minutes a month.

Dembele if he renews, Fati, Ferran, Abde up front. Depay unless he leaves in summer. And hopefully a strong CF signing.

Surprisingly dosn't look too terrible actually  But another story will be getting rid of the remaining dead weight. Umtiti and Coutinho have to go, permanent solution for Pjanic, sell Braithwaite. Would be great to finally put an end to all of that shit.

17 years old ??

Get him in the team now with the other teenagers:)

Don't think he's anywhere near ready for the first team. I think he'll replace Abde (who I assume will stay in first team even when all injured players are back) in Barca B.

Anyone has watched Nico Schlotterbeck? Didn't watch him but "goal" . com has been hyping him non stop.
His profile really fits our need,, left footed CB who is a no nonsense defender who plays great with the ball, tall and big player, contract ends in one year, will be 23 early in the next season so fits our timeline well. And has one year left in contract so won't cost much.
Biggest question mark is whether or not he fits into 4 man defense, as he is used with 3 at the back
