Kounde no bueno at CB. Much rather have him as a RB.

Not for me.. I think he struggles far too much 1v1 defending and not great going forward in final third.

He was more solid in latter part of last season but dont think he was as good as others make out.

Also not sure he is the best RB fit for Yamal/Raphinha to get most out of.

About Perisic, Croatian fans are really pissed at him.

The story goes like this: his childhood club is Hajduk Split, the 2nd biggest Croatian club, mostly supported by the fans in the southern, Mediterranean part of Croatia.
Meanwhile, the fans from north are usually fans of Dinamo Zagreb.

The problem is that Hajduk hasn't won a title for 20 years and the fans are really desperate and violent. They are demanding new players and big names.
So, last winter they managed to sign an injured Perisic from Tottenham, who just broke his knee ligaments. He came for free to Hajduk, playing for only 1 Euro, and the fans were ecstatic. They have seen him as a God, hero, savior. The one who will return the title back to Hajduk.

But, he played only 20-ish minutes here and there in the last rounds of a season, coming back from an injury.
Dinamo won the title again.

Then he went to Euros and played vs Albania and Italy and Croatian fans blame him for bad results because he was barely walking (due to injury) and he didn't win a single duel in two matches. Also, 2 goals from Albania and Italy came after his mistakes.
But the NT coach had to play him due to achievements from the past, like in 2018 and 2022.

Then, he returned to Hajduk for a new season. Hajduk continued to strenthen their team in an attempt to win a title after 20 years and they have even managed to sign Ivan Rakitic and a new coach Gattusso.

So, fans were ecstatic again.
But after the opening 3-4 matches, where Perisic was on the bench again (apparently he can't be a starter neither in Croatian league anymore), he got mad, had a fight with Gattusso, Perisic got kicked out of a first team and then asked for his contract to be terminated.

And now he thinks that he will be signed by some bigger club.

So, even if some of you liked Perisic in the past, the current Perisic is on the 10% of his abilities from the past.
In the last few matches for Croatia and Hajduk, he wasn't able to do anything.
Croatian fans labelled him as "we played with a man down in every match when he was on a field."
Fans from Hajduk are calling him a traitor and how he has only used their club to get back to form to play at Euros.

So, he is absolutely not a good option for Barcelona in this moment.

Signing yet another finesse type winger who doesn't score much after we have already signed a large amount of forwards would be absurd financial mismanagement from the board.

With the small money we've had available, we have signed Ferran, Raphinha, Lewa, Roque, Olmo (AMish) and are now looking to add another winger who is another gamble, doesn't score much and isn't clearly better than our existing wingers. NO. If there is any money, you spend it on either of these things :

A DM
A 1v1 winger (NOT Diaz)

And if you can't find any good options, you simply keep the money, that's it.

Those are our biggest holes and there is a massive hole right in the middle of the field we have not addressed for several years now, and are signing players we don't really need like Diaz, it seems, purely off impulsivity and wanting to spend any money we can cobble together.

This deal would be an impulse buy and isn't guided by team needs. It seems more that the club is simply looking to spend any money it can get together instantly rather than stopping and thinking about if it's a smart decision in the long run.

We do not need Diaz more than a DM and if you can't find a DM now, you simply don't spend the money, and keep that space for when an elite DM becomes available so we will actually be ready for it, instead of missing out again because we didn't have finances together.

At this point I don't believe any player that plays in the basque country wants to leave their clubs.

Zubi
Merino
Williams

Their is something in the water there, that needs to be investigated

What does Merino solve?

He is not a defensive DM and wont be bought to play ahead of FDJ, Gavi or Pedri.

Would be another square peg in round hole.

But we’re only looking at Merino if FdJ doesn’t renew and we want to sell him no? Merino would play in a double pivot with Gavi and Pedri, not sole DM ‘a la’ Busi. I honestly don’t think we lose much in quality in Merino and our finances would look much better. But than again I’m not Frenkies biggest fan, he’s alright but his wage and renewing circus is too much…

That would be a double pivot with no 'natural' defensive DM and back to square one though.

Textbook Barca.

Being linked with L Diaz strongly again.

Would Liverpool take Raphinha for Diaz with idea of having a Salah sided replacement for a years time?

Maybe.
