You'd think Trent will be perfect for RM with Carvajal turning 33 in January. Maybe he'd want to develop in another position though, like CM. Not sure RM can offer him that.

Well, wanting a player and getting him is different. Many of those will just renew anyway.

Napoli will pay €12m to Real Madrid for Rafa Marin.
◉ €25m buy back clause for 2026, €35m for 2027.
◉ In 2025, Napoli cay pay €10m more and make value of buy-back clause double for €50m in 2026 and €70m in 2027.

That's an interesting deal.

Real Madrid and Napoli always deal in bullshit inflated numbers. I'd read those with a pinch of salt, but they know how to game the FFP for eachothers benefit when they move.

In saying that, it's a good deal for Madrid. I would be willing to bet that Real Madrid hold a veto right on that 2025 clause.

Merino in double pivot will make much greater difference for Barca than buying Nico/Diaz to replace Raphinha at LW. I am pretty sure Raphinha is a better player than both. But yeah, lot of the people are confusing good dribblers with good players.

So we can afford 65 million Nico but not 12 million for a pivot?
Am I missing something?

Tbf he actually looks shockingly bad and we are probably being name-dropped by his agent.

BUT, his name is Lamine and thus deserves to be hyped.

@Porque Your comment on Mokio's Senior statement?

So much can be said on it.

Logically Faye going would increase the opportunity for Mokio, with both being lefties.

Then you have the club saying they see him as the next Lamine/Pau which is huge.

The Faye comment itself, how much racial undertone is in that? Maybe the dad felt something or spoke with Faye.

Then lastly, lack of confidence?

@Messi983 Your take?

All the talk is rightly about Estevao in Brazil given his immense ability and recent form. But we should probably keep an eye on Gustavo Nunes given he is right footed and price right now wouldn't be so extravagent.

My first thought when he mentioned loan to Osasuna was that Barca really need to change this rhetoric about players who go on loans never make it here. Fermin is a good recent example that loans can work but we'll need more. But what people fail (or don't want) to realise is we usually don't send players on loan for actual development but rather to offload them or to improve their value to sell (like Abde or Chadi who both had succesful loans from that perspective).

And immediate related thought was how many loans in other big clubs are actually successful? Can't remind that many and yet you don't hear agents talk about how City or Chelsea players will end up on countless loans at their satelite clubs and likely never make it at their parent club. That was what bothered me with his comments. But given he's his father I would believe he actually has his son's best interest in mind which is not always the case with agents.

Not that related to this debate but on a side note I was never a fan of family members representing players. We've seen it with Messi's dad and Neymar senior. Mom Rabiot is a special case as well but thankfully we never had to deal with her (and hopefully never will). Would prefer to work with real professionals like Mendes although obviously they also have their own financial interests but they never take things to a personal level as they had to keep good relations with all clubs.

And all of that talk about potentially going on loan in 2-3 years while he was reportedly promised to train with the first team (so would have a chance to impress Flick) and Barca is the club that has probably given the most first team minutes to teenage players in last 5 years. And I'm talking about all teams in top 5 leagues not only "big" clubs where we are surely #1 in that category. Why wouldn't you trust your kid to be given a fair chance if he's as good as you believe he is? He only signed a 3-year contract anyway so if he wouldn't make a breakthrough in next two years would still hold cards to future in his own hands.

And here we come to my second point. I wouldn't say I noticed racial undertone but I could sense a bit of La Masia bias from his words. Which is fair enough I guess. But you also have to understand that kids who have been in youth setup for 3, 5 or more years are much better adapted to the club than newcomers like Faye or Darvich. Both on and off the pitch. So even if their talent level would be similar (and while I like Faye I believe Cubarsi's ceilling is higher) that would still give a nod to Cubarsi over Faye.

Looks like both Philogene and Onana are signing for Villa. If they sign Nico but keep Romeu and don't sign a DM again I'll be at a loss for words.
