Maybe it's harder to produce good-quality young defenders, than it is to produce midfielders or strikers. That's why we should take good care of Bartra.
Perhaps although I remain skeptical, I simply think it's a position that is overlooked in great detail...You could argue that the midfielders that have come out of La Masia are indeed the toughest to replicate around the globe so how have they accomplished that?...I think it has more to do with failing to scout or train defenders in the same manner ball control and attacking is
Bartra should definitely be well taken care of...Someone else, maybe Meta, awhile back pointed out that a good central defender can take years to really develop and right now we have a promising one in Bartra but how good could he become?...He could become great, we don't know yet which is why it would've been a travesty to let this one get away from our own cantera as well
FCBarca, what about Agger? He is experienced, wouldn't be that expensive, would fancy a move to Barca, is left footed, is great in the air. He seems to tick all the right boxes.
Agger is a nice idea in theory but since he can't even hold a starting position over newly acquired Sakho when he's not injured (For someone who is often injured) and is a vice Captain, hard to say why Barcelona would be a good destination...Especially since Liverpool, despite his high wages, will be intent on getting a top fee for his services...His best days may very well be behind him but I'm sure AnfieldEd has a better take on the Dane than me
