We still have to pay his wages though. Thats what a contract is. We are obliged to pay his wages for the duration of his contract with us. We cant just say "go away". If he has 2 years left on his contract and he is on 3.5m a year, we have to pay him 7m to release him.

Not necessarily.

Most contracts have some release clause saying you can pay 50% (sometimes less) of the remaining contract value to exit.

I don't know if this apply to football contracts, though.

Chelsea & City want Alex Song

Chelsea and Manchester City are both keen on Alex Song as they seek to boost their homegrown quota. The midfielder is classed as a homegrown player after joining Arsenal as a teenager.

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba (22) prefers Barcelona to Man City, but asked to make an extra effort as City's offer is a lot higher [sport]

Both MD and SPORT agree on that. It seems that only money is the issue now as Pogba is very keen on joining Barca.

How much is Pogba going to cost? It's anymore than £45m then City can have him.

Also, I'm willing to bet City has offered him like 200k a week.

More Transfer News out of England.
The Catalan giants may be unable to sign players until January 2016, but that has not stopped them being linked with a number of players

In demand: Barcelona are keen on Ramsey, say reports

Barcelona are keen on Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, according to reports.

The Catalan giants are currently under a transfer embargo, meaning they are unable to sign any players in 2015. But that has not stopped them being linked with a number of players in recent months.

Gunners star Ramsey is the latest name in the mix, with The Sun claiming that Barça would be willing to stump up £50million to secure his signature.

70m+ for Ramsey...

Did some pest control workers forget to put up a "Warning: fumigation in process" sign over at The Sun's offices today or something? Whatever they're inhaling over there, it must be potent stuff...

We have a long history of being obsessed with Arsenal players though. Its painful to look back at how much money we have handed over to Arsenal over the years.

*cough* Vermaelen *cough*

2 players in my Wish List is Marco Verratti and Marco Reus.

Verratti might be a good successor to Iniesta. He's small, quick and smart. Rafinha is doing well but an additional isn't bad either.

Marco Reus will be the best alternative for Neymar in case he's not playing effective. Both are speedy but Marco Reus' style is more straightforward. Paul Pogba is too much a resemblance to Neymar, he might end up losing more balls than Neymar. Look at the match with RM, Pogba's performance is poor.
