I don't think Arda can be called a back up player just like that. If he plays to his best level he can be a starter in my book. It will be close between him and Rakitic, that's for sure. You misunderstood me. Every player is different is the exact argument I am making, so we cant just say that we shouldnt take age into consideration until they hit 32-33. Players can decline much earlier, as countless examples show, and it can happen quickly. And quite frankly, players who were legendary at their peak can still decline alot and still be great. Arda Turan is not a legendary player no matter how we slice it.

Rakitics game was built on his mobility and defensive reading of game as much as anything. Arda doesnt have that for me.

I doubt Lucho will use him anywere alse other than in the midfield 3 (probably in Rakitic's position). We could try to use him as a LCM instead of Iniesta. Anyway, for me he'll play left or right of Busi.

Gerson shouldn't be lumped with those guys. He is a genuine talent and many top clubs are in for him.
