Your entire shift from anti pogba to pro pogba is super unreal BBZ. I understand your reasons but damn it is unbelievable to think a person can change his opinion so much. So my question is how deeply do you believe in your opinions. I have a friend who does this kind of thing but he never actually truly believes in his opinion but exaggerates and goes to extreme to make arguments more interesting. Are you like that? Or you honestly believe without a player like pogba we are doomed?
Last season we had a treble winning team and everything looked perfect.
If our team could have kept the same form, we didn't need star signings, we only needed depth, rotation and keeping their motivation at a decent level.
Back then it made sense to buy some oldies and to keep the current winning team for 2-3 years, if they can stay on that level.
We didn't need to try new tricks back then.
Pogba was a big no and a bomb in a lockerrrom for me in that moment.
A treble winning team didn't need a 100m midfielder since you couldn't bench Iniesta or Raki back then, and we didn't need problems. And he would ruin a chemistry.
Forward things for 1 year:
1. we are not a treble winning team
2. MSN aren't out of this world anymore. Messi is still Messi, but he is getting older and older, slower and less motivated. Suarez is still awesome. Neymar is a joke, more or less
3. motivation has gone MIA
4. Arda, who looked good in theory back then, failed
5. Roberto and Rafinha stagnated (ok, Rafinha was injured, but...)
6. Real won a CL, and +10 points more than us this spring in La liga. They are on form and have a momentum
So, Pogba still has some flaws which I didn't like back then.
And he is still extremely expensive.
But from a treble winning team and well oiled machine, we turned in 12 Months into a team for which it is very questionable how much motivation it will have in the next season. I just don't trust in the current team anymore. Skills are there, but motivation and stamina aren't there.
If you asked me, I would maybe change even Neymar, but that will never happen.
Then, the only options for improvement are defense and midfield, but out of all available players in the world, currenty imo, Pogba could bring the highest level of fresh blood, physical strength, youth and motivation.
Gundogan is gone, Verratti is not for sale.
What else is left?
Marquinos and that's it. But he is a huuuuuuge if.
About changing an opinion, how many of us changed our opinion about Lucho in 2014 and 2015?
A lot of guys turned against Neymar this spring, so they changed their opinion.
Pogba hasn't improved THAT much since last year, even though he improved to some extent.
But OUR team deteriorated a lot (for me), and that's it.
If you ask me whom I would sign, I would sell:
Tello, Halilovic, Bartra, Verm, Adriano, Alves, Masch (if he wants to leave), Sandro, Song, Douglas
-- that is 30-ish M, I guess
If we could sell Arda to someone for 20ish M, that would be awesome. 30+20m of income
Then buy Pogba for 100, Lemos for 10m and that's it.
Again, imo, a midfielder like Pogba and Pique+Mathieu+Lemos defense can improve our team more than good old Raki-Iniesta and Pique-Marquinos+Mathieu defense.
The only problem would be attack, we could buy some oldie on a free transfer, on a loan, or for up to 5m.
If we buy Marquinos, I don't see how will that help in another Atletico:Barca match in a CL, where Raki and Iniesta won't have any ideas and where Messi will go to the middle.
Even Real outplayed us in the last match.
One defender won't suddenly heal our team and solve our motivational problems.
Pogba won't solve those problems either, but he may have a bigger impact on our whole team as a midfielder, than a world class defender.
++ About Pjanic, whenever I watched Roma and Lyon in the past, he was ok but meh for the highest level.
Lucho is crazy if he really wants him, imo.
Not to mention his low amount or running and workrate.
Put him and Iniesta on the field, and we will be all over the place like with Iniesta+Rafinha.
