Doesn't even come close. We didn't value him at 31.4M like PSG which is why we backed out. Nothing has changed in a year apart from Marquinhos getting only a year older and not having progressed much, so why would we suddenly offer around 20M more than a year ago? That's idiotic to even think.
There's no denying we've made a lot of bad transfers, but it cant be used in this context. 1) You're seriously comparing Marquinhos' situation with the one we faced with Eto'o? Marquinhos is a kid, while Eto'o was still world class at the time as was and is Zlatan. 2)To compare buying Keirrison for 14 M and Marquinhos for 50M (with the aforementioned jump of around 20M from last year's price, which we were not willing to pay). 3) The Villa sale was stupid. He could still be usefull, but not as a starter for us. But even selling him for 2M or whatever it was still don't compare to fork out 50M (!) for a 20 year old CB who haven't proven himself on the biggest stage.
Well, then we can conclude that our management is stupid, once again, for thinking that PSG will sell for anything less than what they bought him for. PSG dont need any money whatsoever, so can hold out for more. Not like Roma, who isnt poor, but is no PSG. BTW, Keirrison for 14m equals about 25m in today's price. It was 5 years ago. He played 0 minutes for us. Worse transfer in football history? Possible.
We are obsessed with buying players from the richest clubs in the world. And if that dont work, we go for players like Chygrynskiy for 25m, equal to about 35m in today's market. The madness we show in the transfer market really shows no limits, thats why I think we must be prepared for more madness. 20m for Alexis, 7m for Song, 5m for Alves, buying Luiz for 45m and Llorente for 20m. This is what we must be prepared for, based on our transfer history.
