Because Badstuber and Benatia, as well as Javi Martinez are all out injured. Atm, Dante is nominally Bayern's 5th CB who is essentially a starter, which only proves how ridiculous this season has been for Bayern with injuries. People were feeling sorry for Dortmund last season, who suffered not even half as bad as Bayern this season overall.

kind of hard to feel sorry for bayern when they have maybe the best squad in the world(or at least top 3). also didn't have a competitor in the bundesliga this season and got lucky in the CL knockout round by getting second tier opponents.

dante as 5th option is a "problem" many clubs would like to have.

Also lucky they got Porto during their injury crisis, would it have been us or RM they'd probably be out already.

Now, watch them get Juve in semis :)

No. Watch them draw Monaco. :pep:

Dante played 4000mns for Bayern last season, as well as 2500 this season so far. That may be down to injuries this season, but he has been an integral part of their team for quite some time.

Last season Badstuber was injured, Benatia at Rome and Javi Martinez not yet a CB. So what we had were Boateng, Dante and van Buyten. During that season everbody could see that Dante is not made for that high line Pep let Bayern play with. This season, if it were not for that ridiculous amount of injuries, he wouldn't have played much at all.
Under Heynckes, Dante was actually one of the best CBs in Europe, hard as it may be to believe today.

instead of perma-injured vermalen? sure i would! he may also be better than bartra.

yeah what a bad thing it must be to have a brazilian international and UCL winner as your 5th, maybe 4th CB option. really terrible stuff :lucho2:

Dante had a good year under Heynckes but in general he is quite bad. Especially in a high line. I would prefer Bartra and Mathieu.

Dante had a good year under Heynckes up until the CL final vs Dortmund, when he could've easily cost Bayern the title with that K1 kick on Reus. A pretty ordinary CB. There are at least 15 better than him in that position.

Could've? Should've... Karate kicking someone on a yellow and not getting a second booking, how's that possible. Even more strange that he wasn't the only Bayern player who should've been sent off.

seems like people are forgetting that Dante is 5th option at bayern. How many elite teams have a better 5th option at CB? I would say that he's better than several 3rd or 4th options at other clubs.

Should've been a straight red for Dante IMO, but I've seen teams win with 10 men as well. It was unfortunate for Dortmund though, 1-1 and 11 vs 10 would have been a very good position to be in a CL final. Anyway, what's done is done.

5th option? How so? Who's in front of him in the picking order? Boateng, clearly. Who are the other 3?
