btw, since you all think Bayern has it so good with the whole setting for the CL semis: right before the 1st leg: DFB Pokal semi against Dortmund. Right after the 1st leg: League against Leverkusen. And of course, nobody must get injured in these matches. Yes, belittle us a bit more.

Ryu, who cares about that game against Leverkusen? You can send your II team and nobody would give a rat's ass.

No coach with an ounce of pride would ACTUALLY do that though. He'll play some starters + rotational players, make some early subs and tell them to take it easy out there.

He can't rest every single starter where he doesn't have players to rotate with...

There are exactly two CB's fit to start at the moment. Lewandowski is the only striker who is fit to start (Muller can play there but that's not "rotation"). In general for the attacking options only Sinan Kurt is available to rotate. Maybe Weiser but he'll probably have to take RB depending on Rafinha's health as Rode seems a failed experiment there. Most rotation is available in the central/defensive midfield area (Basti, Alonso, Lahm, Gaudino, Rode), other than that, it's pretty thin.

Surely he will rotate but only as much as the squad allows him to.

Question for Bayern fans.

What did Bayern do in previous seasons under similar conditions? Chelsea in 11/12, rested all their starters (except Cech) in the game vs Arsenal which right in the middle of the two semis.

For last year:

The game before the semis against Real was against Eintracht Braunschweig and the game in between the semis was against Werder Bremen.

http://us.soccerway.com/matches/201...a/fc-bayern-munchen/sv-werder-bremen/1487303/

It appears Pep played most of his starters, resting a few of his starters.

6 out of the 11 players started both the game Eintracht and the first semi vs RM.

In the in-between game, Pep rested only Robben, Lahm and Mandzukic.

For 12/13, however, it appears that Heynckes rotated a lot of players in the game prior to the semis and the game in between the semis:

Almost all the players rotated there.

Thanx for the links by the way.

By everybody's logic we must be at an incredible disadvantage because we apparently play in a weak league, in which we don't get tested at all. That would offset the purported advantage of having the league wrapped up that early. Thus, the conclusion you guys draw is flawed.

There is a fine line between having a comfortable lead but still being on your toes and having a comfortable lead while becoming lackadaisical. I believe we're at a disadvantage because in the last three years we had it too easy in the league. For what it's worth it would have been arguably the same for Bayern had they played in any other league besides La Liga.

You can't compare our treble year with our current situation, or that of last year for that matter. The foundation of our treble year was our mentality. After combing back from an awful 2011/12 year, when we bottled the league, the cup and the Champions League in our own backyard, our team was determined and obsessed of rampaging their way to every possible trophy you can win in a season, especially the CL. Last year, we unfortunately lacked that mentality. Mind you no team in the world can maintain that mentality for a long spell anyways.

Heynckes mostly played substitutes, while Pep had more than half of his usual squad on the field. Given the lack of subsitutes this time you might estimate Pep to field even more starters this time.
But maybe Pep is also looking back at last year as a mistake, and will therefor field only youth players this time (not sure though if there are restrictions on how many youth players you can temporarily have in your squad at the same time).

Having it all easy in your league is always a two-edged knife. On the one hand you have the chance to rest players when required, or take it easy as you please, on the other you are not tested as much and it may be more likely for you to get nasty surprises when you come up with stiff competition in the CL.

As for your treble season, you also have to thank our own implosion, Mou's disastrous final season at Real as well as the ref in the first semi who made your (inevitable) victory look far better than it should have been.

Gaudino, Weiser etc. are first team players, no? I mean your II team players, not your first team bench players.

Ah, literally 2nd team.
No, Gaudino plays for Bayern'S U19, just like Kurt. Weiser is 2nd team/extended 1st team.

@ Bayernistas

If the league was on the line (imagine that!) the game against Leverkusen would be very tough, as even Leverkusen themselves would be counting on Bayern to be not at 100% in that particular game (is what Sevilla and Valencia will probably do to RM)

But the situation is that Bayern should not give a flying fuck when faced with Leverkusen, the league is wrapped up and if I were in Pep's position I would rest every single starter. Every single one.

Bayern have a difficult game tomorrow against Dortmund, but that is 8 days before the first CL semi. I fully expect Bayern to rest all key players vs Leverkusen.

Even if Bayern play all their starters, expect a walk fest by bayern players, Messi style...people wonder how messi never get rested, well you have your answers, conserve energy while playing.
