Bernardo Silva

I rate them both very highly but Gavi isn?t even 18 yet so can?t burden the guy yet. Bernardo for me was about replacing De Jong not the youngsters.

Either way, it?s most likely that the midfield is going to remain as it is.

It does look like FDJ will stay and now even Pjanic says he is staying to fight for a place !!

What a squad we will have

Nah, I rate Pedri and Gavi higher than you do. If we were talking Iniesta here I would say the jump in quality is worth it, but Bernardo is not that far off.

We have to wait some more. Last season they were playing under very low pressure. People were happy just to see them trying and us getting top 4. Now the expectations are two times higher. They may rise up to the occasion, but there is a chance they will cave under the increased pressure, which is pretty sudden. Let's not forget that they are still kids basically.

Vs Madrid, Pedri and Gavi were both in our top 5 worst performers. That's a reality, not sugarcoating it. Dwelled on the ball, bad first touches, not seeing pass options despite obvious spaces and so on. Played like kids that were a bit out of their depth considering the stars on the field.

I'm just saying we would do with a top class creative midfielder to let Pedri and Gavi find their own rhythm. Now they kind of are under pressure to deliver straight away.

This was pretty shocking by Gavi not to see this pass to Raphinha. It's 1 vs 1 chance here if you just do the obvious. Bernardo makes it 10 times out of 10.

True.

I would break tv if that was CL match.

You need to see those.

He missed a pretty clear one with fati too, it's only a friendly, but I don't remember the poster who said it, but he and Frankie have some of the same flaws in their came, they will rather run 15 yards with the ball than pass it.

Something that will be fixed in time.

A bit more difficult pass, but a top player makes it. Fati was mad about it.

Fati has his opponent beat, and is attacking a huge space between the two CBs, pass should have went there.

Yea this is it, fati was definitely pissed, a top player like you said would have seen that pass.

No doubt this will be fixed in time, but the issue is you just signed Lewandowski who has maybe 2 years left out of his reasonable prime. We'd do well to get advantage of that in CL. Who knows, maybe we sneak into a CL semifinal. But if you don't take advantage of runs from the forward line and you give them ball to feet in crap position, and then expect magic a la Ronaldinho... you won't get far.

Doubt many people expected Chelsea to win in 2021.

So, I guess what I'm saying is that the short term objective was changed from raising our youngsters and making top 4, which was reasonable expectations before this transfer window, to making final adjustments to compete now. I doubt Gavi is ready for this, but I hope at least Pedri will be delivering what we expect from him.

Let's be realistic. There is no way for us to buy Bernardo unless De Jong leaves. However, De Jong will probably stay. Even if De Jong decides to go City could refuse to sell Bernardo. This transfer just isn't happening this summer.

Pep loves Bernardo, i doubt he would let him go.

Pep is on record as saying he would not stand in his way ..

;;;;

Pep Guardiola has a 'secret pact' with Bernardo Silva to 'allow him to LEAVE Manchester City this summer if they receive a good offer', with Barcelona boss Xavi interested in the Portuguese star as a potential replacement for Frenkie de Jong
