Bernardo Silva

Pep Guardiola and Bernardo Silva reportedly have a secret pact which would allow the Portuguese star to leave the club this summer.

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo report that Silva has Guardiola's word that he can leave the Premier League champions in the summer transfer window if he wishes, and if the offer is good for City.

No way he is going to allow that. With the start of the season behind the corner he wouldn't have time to replace him. Even if he wanted to buy someone else who the hell would he buy to replace Bernardo? I am 100% sure Bernardo will stay in Manchester.

I'm surprised by the Lucas Paqueta links. I know he has improved alot at Lyon and was a crack in Brasil before the failed AC stint, but Giant Bernard for Packet just feels wrong.

Pep has already identified the player he wants and the transfer window remains open until 1st September which is plenty of time . They are stacked in Silvas position

They are stacked but who is better than him? I am sure Pep doesn't want to downgrade his squad.

Pep/City have shown they don't hold onto players who want to leave as long as they receive an offer that is close to their valuation of the player. Bernardo alone was close to join Atleti last summer but they couldn't agree on price. His value has increased since then so it's clear they won't sell for 50m this time but at the same time I believe that rumoured 80m is just a starting negotiation point and could be lowered. Personally I think we could get him for a bit more than what we've paid for Ferran which would be a good price this time. I still think Ferran will turn out to be a good player for us but it's also clear we've overpaid and after recent reinforcements in attack it's more likely he'll become just a rotational player rather than a future key player like Xavi thought 6 months ago.

Back to Bernardo. Very good player but think signing him would be an overkill in midfield even if Frenkie leaves. I can understand why Xavi wants him to lessen pressure on kids but OTOH signing Bernardo increase odds of Pedri or more likely Gavi (we've already struggled to tie him down to a new contract now) leaving in 3-4 years.

Also not sure about making a big investment into part of the field we're already pretty well covered. Would rather improve both FB positions and/or save money for a DM next season.

The midfield is not as good as many think. Busi is a DM, his subs are Nico and Pjanic (if he stays) then you have Gavi/Kessie will play as a CM, then Pedri. Only Kessie is at prime age. Busi is old and Pedri/Gavi is still very young. They will be crushed in UCL. Someone like Verratti would eat this midfield alive.

That's true. Right now Kessie is replacing Frenkie and there is no guarantees that Kessie will be better.

We rely alot on Pedri and Gavi continiung their trajectory. While Nico is still an enigma and Xavi has not managed to get the best of him as a central midfielder.

I saw something yesterday.. suggesting that the staff were deciding who to keep on Pjanic or Nico ..
Judging by the Juve game it would have to be Pjanic
