Bernardo Silva

I was strongly in favor of him coming last summer.

I am not any more. He is 29, soon he will be post prime (or may be already post prime)
It's nonsense to get players that have been juiced out elsewhere

Move on

5 months makes a hell of a difference lol

It makes dude.

Had he come in the summer, he would have given us 2 top years, and maybe another 2 so and so
Next summer, we are talking about 1 top year, 2 so and so, and 1 in steep decline or something like that

When you hit decline, it shows off suddenly
Look at VVD at Liverpool this season, last season no one thought he can appear so bad
Many other examples of that

Dont see where he would have fit last summer to be worth that money.

Hasnt really declined or had a poor season though he is much as has always been just heading nearer to 30.

Probably AM from left but not sure he is the goal threat for that to be worth the money. Been as well spending that on wide players that fit and play in way Xavi wants.

Could just be another like Torres and Raphinha that look like square pegs in round holes.

City in complete meltdown?

How are they going to replace Silva and Cancelo??

Silva and Cancelo must be the players who got way too comfortable

To bad we are broke.

If we have money to bid for Amrabat and Araujo, we have money for Silva. We missed the train with Cancelo (who would be even more needed and ideal), hopefully we don't do the same with Silva. A loan with an affordable (and lower than Cancelo's) option to buy (40-50M) is most likely totally feasible. He could be the player that elevates us to winning the Europa League too. Not just La Liga, which we should do even without him.

These are finishe washed up players, tired of working to win in City and looking for vacattion and relaxation time somewhere else.

We need to stay far away.

I assume there is quite a big difference in wages Amrabat or Araujo would get compared to Bernardo. Don't expect we'll actually sign Amrabat, probably just usual Romero BS to get his attention (like he hyped up the last day of summer TW when nothing happened). Araujo looks more likely but not sure if he's what we need or who Xavi would like us to sign. From what I've seen from him don't think he fits a profile of RB Xavi is looking for. Don't believe there is any chance to get Bernardo tbh.

Another thing to consider City would probably prefer to loan Bernardo to a club that will be likely to actually buy him in summer to not get him back if he has really fallen out of favor with Pep. We're in no position to know if we'd have 70m (there is no way 40-50m would be enough and we can't even guarantee to have that much) to spend in summer on a "luxury signing" when we have more urgent needs at RB and DM, could add LW to that as well.

I also think we should avoid signing players from Pep and Klopp (can also add Simeone here although his style is different). They all come physically and/or mentally exhausted after working under the most demanding coaches in the world for years. They normally don't just give up on players they think could still be of use for them. There should be some red flags in that regards for both Cancelo and Bernardo (if he ends up leaving).

Trying to think of one Portuguese player since Pepe who didn't get bored after winning some trophies.
I swear they're all just massive mercenaries.

Maybe Bruno, but guarantee he'd get bored after one EL win too
