In the 4 midfielder formation he is often the scapegoat as iniesta outshines him attacking wise and he can't show his deeplying playmaking skills as xavi is in the position, he's mainly just there to run around and basically pull a defender or two off of messi.

Pepe... I don't know how this guy is still allowed to play football.

And people felt "sorry" for him when he tasted a piece of his own medicine by Busquets.

Funny thing is that happened right after this incident. Karma was quick this time. ;)

Busi didnt step on his face, he was about to but then saw him and moved it. that screenshot is deceiving.

Well to me it looked like Cesc was there to keep the pressure on the Madrid midfield and do the dirty work for Xavi and Iniesta and it worked great because I didn't see much of Xabi or Modric the only midfield they had was Di Maria

Thats basically his job he was sort of like a roving blackhole sucking up all the space for xabi and modric, it is the RW job to handle tracking back on the wings and neymar didnt do that, so even though alves did well in stifling ronaldo he had 2 other players in di maria and marcelo barreling down unchallenged.

Cesc was again the worst of Xavi Inista Cesc. He is slower than a snail, no pace what so ever. Really don't like him and Xavi in the mid they don't mesh.

Cesc is a good player. But like you say hes not as quick as Iniesta, doesnt have the dribblingskills of Iniesta, dont have the passingskills of Xavi or ballcontroll of either Iniesta or Xavi.

Hes like a 50% mix of them both. So there is a problem of where to play him. He will never reach the potential of either Iniesta or Xavi.

Its extremly noticable against quicker teams that press alot. Cesc is to slow in those games, drops the ball alot and gets lost. Speed and quick thinking is key for a player in Barcelona.

what exactly can he offer besides directness? tecnique? NO pace? NO Dribbling? NO Leadership skills? NO fighting spirit? NO whining about every ref decision like a 3year old? YES

Whoa, biased, aren't we?

On too many occasions Fabregas seemed like the only one on the pitch who gives a damn...

Cesc has distribution as good as xavi, he just doesnt have his quick passing skills. And until recently he was our only reliable scorer from midfield. And iniesta probably wont keep up this hammer shot goal everygame thing.

Did you not notice the first half of the year where Cesc was essentially carrying our entire midfield in creating chances? He's the top assist man in Europe right now (or at least was a couple weeks ago).

To say he offers nothing and paint him like nothing but a whiny bitch is ridiculous. Cesc is a very good player, has amazing vision, makes good runs, gets in good positions and can finish better than all of our other midfielders.
What he doesn't offer in speed, ball control, and dribbling he offers in other areas. It is really just a matter of using him in the right times that utilize his merits and minimize his weaknesses.

Against high pressure teams that play us like Madrid did, Xavi and Iniesta are much better suited due to their astronomical ball control and dribbling ability, but against teams that play with less pressure, few can pick out an attacking run with the vision and accuracy that Cesc can. Let's not get carried away now and act like he's trash, that's just ridiculous.
