Cesc Fàbregas

I can't believe people were clamouring for Cesc to go and now that it looks like it might happen, there's no one good enough to replace him? How good is Fabregas anyway?

Some of those people were haters who obviously have no brains. The ones who actually had good reasons for selling him probably assumed they could get Gundogan or Koke easily.

Fabregas is a world class false ten to answer your other question.

Who knows? Better ask zubi and barto. To get an inferior player really makes no sense. Unless Lucho considers Rafinha as his replacement, and the money is to buy the cb or a fwr.

It's not just about his replacement. If the team just feels that Cesc simply does not fit going forward, because he does seem like a player without position at this team, then selling him right this very moment is the best time to do so.

Even if the team does not get an equally or more talented player than him this very season, it is very likely Cesc's value will only start to go down from this point on. If they don't have him in their future plans, selling him now might still be better than keeping him just for the sake of keeping him.

Good point. Maybe it's better to get max money out if him now and to have one more transition season and get a proper replacement next summer when one might be available. Though that means we are stuck with overplaying Xavi one more year. And we might have the ban next summer.

If he goes to Chelsea, where would they play him? Mourinho seems to love Oscar at CAM, and Cesc isn't a DM.

He could run a really sexy 4-3-3 with Cesc-Matic-Oscar behind Hazard-striker-Schurrle, or he could get Oscar to play a more box-to-box role instead of pure AM. But Cesc isn't going to Chelsea, so that thankfully won't happen.

Yeah the ban is a problem. I still think Barca will try really hard for a good replacement. IMO they are going to go hard after Koke, even if I do think that won't happen.

However, even when they won't get a clear upgrade, there is still some validity to the notion of selling Cesc for his highest worth right now, as opposed to a year later when he'll likely be worth less, and just finding a player like Rakitic or Ander Herrera, who might not be as talented as Cesc, but will both cost less money than the team will get from the Cesc sale, and would also come with a more defined role, less expectation and consequently less demand, and perhaps a better idea of how their going to be used by the coaching staff and Lucho.

Are you talking about Mourinho here?!?!? Or some other guy disguised as him. That lineup in entirely too offensive for Mourinho.

Telegraph reporting that Chelsea made a 30m pounds bid.

And this should be Zubis immediate answer
