Injury and illness has kept his match time to a low lately. Jury is still out atm. He'll be properly fit from after Burnley onward, if he still sucks then it's definitely that.

Cesc has plenty of work rate.

A couple of weeks ago he was the player that had covered more ground than any other player in the EPL.

He is also much better in tight areas than Rakitic, its not even comparible.

"Workrate" is a pointless basic stat in this sense. Especially if you're measuring it by how many Km they have run during the whole match. Defensively Cesc brings very little.. his workrate in a high pressing Barca is extremely slow and he often missed tackles. Without Matic and co beside him we would see it more but at Chelsea the system suits him better.
