Not world-class. Never was, never will be.
Really? I prefer MAtS myself, but Bravo had pretty amazing season so far, and that all with MAtS breathing on his neck. So I believe he's pretty strong mentally too.
This has been the first time where Mats being a better keeper not only shines through, but screamed through. Shaky with the ball at his feet, passed directly to yellow jerseys a number of times, and had no clue what to do with himself on the numerous counters we faced.
While the first goal was due to Mascherano forgetting how to CB (Or rather, reminding us that we forgot he never knew how), he should have easily been able to save that goal. He was in great position to just pick it up, but his reaction was far too late, as if he wasn't even thinking about the game, and his dive was him basically just throwing himself for the sake of looking like he tried. ter Stegen could have saved that with his ass.
The second goal was due to Pique having a brainfart but, even then, he had an opportunity to attack the ball that he didn't take. Perhaps he was scared Giovannni would slip the ball past him if he committed. Perhaps he thought Pique would have made the tackle and rendered his being there pointless. Regardless, he should have spread himself and taken Giovanni, and possibly Pique, out to get that ball. It's questionable if ter Stegen would have made the right decision there or if ter Stegen would have even stuck to his posts at all, but if he plays better than that against Villareal (He already played better than Bravo against Atletico) he'll have made a strong case to be our starting keeper in both the UCL and the Liga.
