Maradona has the more inspiring story than Ronaldo. Plus a shit ton more talent. Like Bobby Fischer or Ali in their respective sports, arguably not the goats for longevity alone, but in a special place just below them.

Maradona is so much more talented though.
He is arguably the most gifted player ever. His ball control is perfection.
He still has the best world cup run and the lifting a midtable team to glory like you almost never would see a toppplayer do.
I do feel Platini is underrated, same with Zico from that era compared to Maradona but Diego will always have a goat argument.

Cristiano should be more discussed in a goat goalscorer argument than footballer.
For which he has a case and can compete with the likes of Puskas, Romario,pele, gerd muller and also Messi who can claim both.
Cr7 has the stats, longetivity, competitions he scored in snd opposition he scored against to back those stats up.

I do feel one important element about scoring that will make him less rated as he is now is that teams are more stscked these days and its easier to score than before.

If you look at the list of players who cracked 500 goals.
Since Gerd Muller its only really been Romario putting down solid numbers.

But nowadays we have Cr7,Messi leading it but also Suarez, Lewandowski, Ibrahimovic having 500+ goals and Benzema and Neymar will get there as well.
We have young guys like Haaland and Mbappe putting down sick stats and are on track to get there as well.

This meand the goalscorers got way better compared to 40 years before that or the teams got more stacked and its easier to score.
I think its the later since Van Basten, Batistuta, Sheva, R9,Henry and many others dont seem less goalscorers and strikers than the guys mentioned woth 500+ goals.

Since Cr7 is mostly praised for his goalscoring cause as a footballer many have been better it will eat away at his goat argument in time.

Biggest difference is the amount of games imo. Someone like Gerd M?ller played only 62 games for Germany, nowadays plenty of players with over a 100 caps, loads with over 150 caps even.
Als many more games in the CL and that looks like only increasing in the future where teams will have to play 17, 19 or so games to win the CL.

Messi scoring half with the same achievements would have worked in his favor. Goal-scoring is the angle that made them comparable when they are not.

Also, only one player in this generation was held to goat standards, which says it all.

Everything comes to an end.. Lets be honest here this guy is on the scene since 2003, his time has passed, he gaves football a lot of memories, even though he played for Real Madrid.. I still have massive respect for Ronaldo and his career..

PR must be working overnight for how to spin this one.
He lost all respect of everyone in Manu who adored him, everyone in Juventus and finally everyone from Portugal NT with his antics. On top of that, his arch Nemesis just won a world cup.

Georgina has posted a vid of them celebrating Christmas with the family. She gave Ronaldo a car as a present, bought with money she gets from him lol.
