FIFA themselves said it in their press conference. But they say a lot of things. They won't publish the initial results - if they have nothing to hide, they might as well publish them though.

Ridiculing him so viciously or saying it's down to corruption is no better than what other teams fans have been doing to Messi for years. Give the guy a break, he won and important award and had a great year, one of the best players in the world.
Why do you need the validation of a single year award to know how good Messi is, and more importantly why do you need to get so defensive and angry when he doesn't get it? No one is saying support Ronaldo or even admit he deserves it because that's your entitled opinion, but at least stay civil and logical about it.

Congrats to Ronaldo.....He deserved it and the stats show he's scored 20 goals more than Messi in the calender year.....Most fans here seem to think that if Messi is injured for a period of time than the achievement of Ronaldo during that time should be ignored by voters....

That's really not how they think... They think the importance of the said 20 more goals and how & when they were scored should be considered by the voters too! And, most importantly, how the voting was done needs to be considered

The fact (or opinion) that CR7 deserves it does not contradict with the fact that Messi's multiple injuries further enabled CR7 and fattened his chances of winning.
