Thing with Ronaldo is that he can just become a total goal proacher now that he is having injury problems and as he is getting older, Messi and him will always get compared until one retires, Ronaldo wont just suddenly fall off and lose relevance. He has goals and he will continue to score plenty unless his knee doesnt allow him to play the game. I think its quite clear how both of their games will evolve into there 30's, Ronaldo will become a goal proacher and Messi will be a midfielder doing magical passes.

But Ronaldo will still be great, dont fool yourselves

Yeah but so are players like Gerd Muller (who was a far better goalscorer than Ronaldo) or Inzaghi. Ronaldo's a fantastic finisher these days. But he's not much else anymore.

Knee problem or not, I want him sold. I want us to develop beyond this tactic that has Ronaldo in it that is always a strain on all other players. Our players, our tactics are all affected by including him, but it worked for a while because his goals were supreme, and we had balance with Di Maria. Add Bale to the mix and its just too difficult for the midfield to bare. We are failing against top teams, because the players are out of sync and confused. Then there is Ancelotti who never fixes anything, just rides these problems out until they fix themselves.

I am not sure if this one can be fixed alone, HE developed the 4 4 2, why doesn't he use it? Because that asshole Bale doesn't want to be part of a 4 4 2 either. I mentioned last season who forunate Ancelotti was for losing Khedira early on, that forced his hand into playing a 4 3 3 and with bad results in the league, he opted for a 4 4 2 with more injuries and HAD to use Isco. Once Isco made that 4 4 2 work, things clicked for Real Madrid.

Every fanbase got stupid people.

@Raed, if Cristiano turns into a pure #9(he's close to being one right now anyway), would you still want him out?

442 is perfect for them. Ronaldo and benzema up front. Bale and isco on the wings and kroos/modric(when he returns) in the centre.

Well I also wouldn't mind Ronaldo being sold in a year or two. For like a year or whatever he barely runs(perhaps because of the knee or whatever) so he's pretty much turned into a pure #9. If things don't look better next season(if he's still here) we might as well replace him with someone better. If we are bringing a winger to replace him then players like Hazard and Reus come to mind since they're better options since they can actually run. And if we're replacing him as a #9 ,to have someone to play duo strikers with Benz then something like Lacazette/Kane or whichever new shiny toy emerges we can count on Perez to buy.

Maybe Ronaldo has announced his desire to play in Miami in couple of years finally irritated Perez. Now the Perez media train might try to force him out so he can bank 200 mill off his sale. Who knows, just a thought.

Don't think Cristiano is going anywhere from Europe until he's completely finished. He's obsessed with competing against Messi.

If he doesn't score against Deportivo tomorrow or barely manages to score one, I'll believe that there's a chronic problem with his form. Whether it's an underperforming team, his age, 2nd half of season choking, etc. he should still be burying minnows like he always does. He hasn't been all that different from his usual self other than after the Cordoba match but I don't think he'll be as bad as he has been against a team that RM should thoroughly dominate.

I'm curious to see how this recent run for RM and Ronaldo pans out. Has Ancelotti's system actually fallen or is this just a stumble? As good as Modric is, I don't think he alone would change whatever this is. I'll be paying close attention to how things are against Depor, it'd be pretty convenient for us if their domination of world football's throne were to barely last a year .

Frankly I would sell Bale before Cristiano. I know Bale is younger and Cristiano has perhaps started his physical decline, but Bale has always struck me as overrated. Fast as a bolt and has a strong shot, but not particularly great at anything else. Cristiano can still poach and play up front with another creative 9 like Benzema.

RM best team is with Isco on the left, James on the right, Modric and Kroos in the middle, Cristiano and Benz up front. Bale doesn't fit here. Sell him, and buy depth for that midfield. A good mobile defensive mid, and another attacking mid to rotate with James and Isco. Maybe another proper 9, not that Chicharito nonsense, for depth along Jese.

Bale wouldn't do well as a midfielder because he doesn't track back or provide any sort of help on defensive duties plus is technically limited. 442 for Real works best when they have Isco-Kroos-Modric-James like during the 1st clasico.

When Carlo was first hired he said he wanted RM to play more possession football but he couldn't make that change his first year esp since Bale and Cristiano both aren't that type of player. Buying Kroos made sense in his mind to adapt to more possession but he really should have thought over that fact that CR and Bale on the wings isn't going to help much. Now Perez's panic galactico buy is the 1 thing standing in RM's way of getting back on track.

I ridiculed the James purchase but he has been really good for their 442 system when they use it without Bale or CR and Isco is used.

Do we have an answer to that Isco-Modric-Kroos-James midfield, if they were to play that in the second leg? What would it be?
