He was probably our 4th best player last year. Relax. It isn't his fault, that our attacking line can't score so we can win the games. People should relax a bit.

Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Yaya and Pique were better than him IMO, and possible Valdes or even Eto'o. Alves is not a defensive player and never was, he contributes significantly to the defense because he plays dirty, this isn't a bad thing, his cheap hits and time wasting were underrated in contribution last season but there are times when he's going to be a liability on the defensive end and him not playing in the CL final might have been a blessing in disguise, especially when we played Sylvinho on the other side (even if Sylvinho had possibly the best defensive game of his career that day)

Name one specific time that Alves rolling around has truly benefited the team. Personally I'm embarrassed every time he does it, it looks like a joke. :icon_neutral:

Yeah but other than Motta Dani didn't get anything real from any of the other players. Bad challenges, yes, against Iniesta for e.g. Hahaha Motta's a legend!

He's had a very good game... But to be honest his crosses were always good at home. When played away is his form bad. And the main back-drop of Alves, being he almost always loses the opponent LW for acres of space even when he is in our own half(like the way Maicon left Pedro today!), is not at all exposed by the Inter forwards to be honest. They truely suffered due to the lack of proper wingers.

But saying Alves's back to form is little too early imho

When he's not acting like a whinging, drama queen, Alves is a very good player. Your totally right with the CL final aswell, if we'd played Abidal there he would probably have lost us the game, I would have picked Slyvinho over him for the CL final even if Abidal was available. Puyol was quality as RB in that game and made Ronaldo look extremely silly. Alves is the second best RB in the world Imo, second to Maicon.

He played well last night, was impressed. He also seems to have toned down the playacting too. He got some rough treatment last night and didn't make too much of it. Pep must have had a word after his early season antics.
