Daniel Alves

What's important is this part. It basically says when the player gets a direct red card, he will be suspended for at least 1 game, except if it was a grave infraction. In cases where the player had no chance of playing the ball (i.e. the ball was far away), it's at least a 2 game suspension.

So, if Florentino doesn't bribe his friends at RFEF, Alves should be fine and only get 1 game.

Thanks.

So, for Alves to be suspended for 2 games, RFEF will need to sell a standard foul as a "grave infraction". Right?

I bet if he didn't make the tackle everyone would be like, "oh my god this just proves Alves isn't committed, he should have tried to win the ball, etc."

I didn't think it was a foul at all, by the way

Exactly, he doesnt make that tackle and everyone complains about his poor defending.

He covered the run and made a great tackle to stop a shot from 6/7 yds but because this is Alves people try and make it into an 'error' and shift focus off what was a great game by him.

Seriously? a player got a red card because of a silly tackle in the penalty area with 5-0 win and got a red card for it .whatever his name is it is stupid play .
If it was Pique/Mathieu/Mascherano we will complain about such a stupid play

It wasnt a silly tackle unless you want them to give up on defending as 5-0 up and just let Rayo have a free shot.

He got the ball and made the right play.

Well of course he put in a good performance. It's Rayo. Unless you're completely useless (Like a certain forward we have) you're practically guaranteed a great game because they commit suicide basically from the opening whistle.

I myself wouldn't have complained if he hadn't made the tackle. There's a difference between not taking a potentially risky slide in the box at 5-0 against Rayo and not being anywhere to be seen as as an opposing attacker runs riot down your flank at 1-1 and 1-2 against Real Madrid.

Can virtually guarantee you would have complained had he not tried to defend there.

Playing well isnt guaranteed against anyone Rayo included.

Surely an easy game would mean Alves could stroll the game, he didnt he covered so much ground and made things happen.

He wasn't in a favorable position from the start and he shouldn't make a risky tackle with 5-0 ,that is being smart and calculate the risk not giving up defense when we are 5-0 ahead with few minutes left .not getting a card should be a priority at this stage of the game
he got red ,we conceded penalty ,an easier way to score and they have actually scored .yeah gr8 play Dani .they should be rewarded MOTM

Well I disagree he made the correct decision to tackle rather than give player free shot from 7 yds.

No defender ever thinks 'its 5-0 i may as well let him shoot'.

Alves called it correct ref called it wrong.

He was in no position to make the tackle. I don't blame him for every goal we concede, just the ones that come from his flank when he is jogging back to his area.

And the game was easy. It was very easy. Could have legitimately been 10-0.

Yes, but the way I see it, no one in their right mind would consider that a "grave infraction". Would have to look for similar offenses in the past but anyone knows if Alves gets banned for more than 1 game, RM will have had their hand in it.

He made the tackle so was clearly in a position to make it.

He had to sprint inside to cover for his defenders getting their rear ends split in half and still had to slide for a ball that was normally out of his reach. If that would have been a goal the blame would not have been on him.

Of course he was right in thinking he should stop the attacker, nobody is suggesting otherwise, but the tackle was poor and that's why he was given the card and why Rayo was given the penalty.

Yeah you are right.

Alves should have thought 'this situation is not my fault, not my problem, I should let him score!'

Or maybe Lucho should say 'no tackles in box if you are last man and we are 3/4-0 up, even if you can win the ball just let them score'.

Should have listened to you a long time ago Zangash.
