This club bigger than any player, we were fine when Ronaldinho left us, then Eto'o, Puyol, Xavi, VV...etc.

we move on

I think that when Iniesta,Busquets,Pique and especially the GOAT retire,we will be in a really ugly situation, like "no title in 10 years" ugly.

Move on to what though? Players come and go, but you have to have a plan in place. This board hasn't shown that. Whoever Barca buys will be downgrades anyway.

Hmm..if anything under this board we are quite successful, no matter how much one hates former.

Damn, Alves and Mascherano on Juve's defense. Look's like Juve's summer transfer is more set than us. Too many changes will happen next season and 2 of them are from our defense. Next season is gonna be harder than the previous one.

Yet both Masch and Alves want to leave.. I don't think it's just wanting a new challenge .

For Masche it fits in with what he has said in past and for Alves it is a longer contract than he will get at Barca.

Tell us why you think they are leaving.

Strange to think of Alves not being part of the team anymore. I'll really miss him.

That said, the RB position has been needing someone younger who can start taking over the prime minutes, and none of our current players were really capable of taking those minutes over Alves. A replacement to "carry on the torch" as the prime RB is needed, and instead of sitting on the bench taking minutes away from Vidal or whoever becomes secondary RB, he rather decides to leave on a high. I'm completely fine with that.

He demands a lot of respect after his years in Barca, the guy has become a legend in this team. Best of luck to him - I'm sure he'll make Juve fans happy. :)

I don't think they like Barto and co. Alves clearly dosent. Masch has been around long enough. They are both key players coming off a successful season, it's not like Barca finished fourth or fifth and trophy less. From the outside looking in, having key players asking to leave days after winning a double looks bad.

Oh man, he could have announced it earlier so the fans can give you a proper goodbye at Camp Nou, he really deserves it for what he contributed for us. He's Barcelona's best fullback in history.

I don't see a plan for the future. You have to plan five years ahead, not one year. Buying older players such as Arda, Mathieu, Vermaelen do not show this board has any kind of long term plan in place. Don't get me wrong, it's not that Barça should never sign older, experienced players. They should, but only if they're world class like Suarez and Rakitic or add something the squad lacks and desperately needs. When was the last time we bought a young, promising player who immediately added something to the team and lasts for years (in other words, a player that shows there is a long term project), aside from Ter Stegen? Neymar is the most recent one that comes to mind, and it has been three years. Maybe Alba in 2012 and Alexis in 2011 (who's not even here anymore). That's five years ago now! This isn't enough, and it's not like the board/coach can or want to rely on youth players either.
The people responsible better bring their best in the next couple of years, because it is only going to get more difficult to sign the players we need to replace in the coming years.

Have they only decided this summer that they hate the board so much they have to leave?

Why did Alves sign contract last summer?

It makes sense for Alves to leave and get a longer contract at a top club almost guaranteed the league and to play in CL.

Masch has spoken in past of not retiring at Barca, seeing himself as a midfielder and Italy has been mentioned.

Not saying they love the board, to be honest I dont care they are paid to play football.

Really sad if he is leaving and I think Messi in particular will suffer from his departure as the understanding and link up between him and Messi is just unparalleled.

But yeah, sooner or later we are going to lose him to either age or another team. If he really wants to leave he has earned the right to do so. It is time for us to say best wishes and move on to grooming either Vidal or Bob to fill his big shoes.

A really earth-shattering day for us Barca fans. Sad.

What top club do you want Barca to be more like that has bought young players that make an immediate impact?

Neymar has, Ter Stegen has and Barca promtore more young players than other top clubs. Players like Sergi Roberto and Rafinha have come in to squad.

What top team has taken in 3/4 younger players that match those four in past three seasons?
