I dont think that City are that mad to offer 37m for his services and I dont beleive also that Benfica are that mad to reject such an offer,No defender on earth deserve 40m except Pique for me.

I live in Portugal, and all sports newspapers referred that offer, rejected by Benfica. David also refused a salary three times higher the one he actually has, because he does not have hurry to leave the club.
Chelsea offered 12m, but i think it was for his boots, and maybe for his socks.
He has the potential to be the best defense in the world, and Benfica´s president said he will only be sold for his clause.
And Benfica did not sold Di Maria for only 25m, the offer could reach 37m.

5m based on the games he will play.6 for variable based on trophy winnings..etc and 5 from his image rights (based on his potential sales )
and they were kind enough to take an 18 and 19 year old with no first team experience for 10 Million Euro
I´m happy they spent so much. Better for Benfica.

I only got to follow Benfica a few times last season and each time I was impressed by David Luiz. I saw Brasil play the USA today in New Jersey and David Luiz was FANTASTIC. Yes I know it was a friendly but some of the things he did like controlling the ball, taking the ball down in the air, first touch and using his body to get players off the ball was amazing. David Luiz really, really impressed me along with Neymar (what a fun 18 year old to watch, he's gonna become a firecracker) and of course Pato, one of my favorite players around.
Luiz and Thiago Silva together as CBs almost brought a tear to my eyes... damn you Dunga, you son of a bitch.
