We have comfortable lead in the league and after the United game we had Cadiz at home, which substitutes should win. Why not put the best lineup vs United? Totally worth the gamble

Actually...we played the gala XI (with some nice cameos by Xavi and Pedro) in 14-15 since the Anoeta game...and won like 37 out of 41 games + treble between Jan - June.
But that was a perfect storm with a prime Messi, prime Suarez, prime Neymar, prime Rakitic, prime Pique and like 4-5 other top class, seasoned professionals
Not comparable obviously, but just saying it can be done.

15-16 we ran out of gas though and failed.

We were never winning the tie in the first leg. The teams are very close in quality.
You're speaking as if we had some Mbappe in the team and we left him on the bench. I like Balde and Christensen but come on...
Of course it's gonna be tough when we miss 3-4 starters due to injury, but we have to go out and give everything.
They aren't really close.
Guys like Weghorst, Fred, Wan Bissaka, Shaw as centre-back, even Sancho, Malacia etc don't touch our strongest XI in their life yet they all played against us.
