Erling Haaland

We don't need RB and DM/CM. We desperately need a No.9 and CB and that's it. Dest is more than OK and we can pull Emerson from Betis. In midfield we have De Jong and Pedri with Ilaix incoming. That midfield can become a world class. We need patience more than we need some big signings for midfield or fullback position. If we can get Alaba for free it would be good as he can cover both LB/CB position. Get Alaba, Haaland and Garcia and sell coutinho, Griezman, Umtiti and Pjanic and we are set to go. Even if Messi decides to leave we would have an exciting starting 11.

---------Mats------------
Dest-Araujo-Alaba(Garcia)-Alba
--------De Jong---------
----Pedri-----Illaix------
Demebele-Haaland-Fati

A decade of dominance incoming!

Dest hasn't shown anything special, even fucked up badly in some games. If we just like to turn a blind eye over him, fine. But he's a weak link in that defense.

Araujo needs a good CB as partner. And even he is not the finished article, nor do we know his level yet.

Again we starting kids all year in midfield, without any useful players on the bench? Can become world class might take a year or two, maybe never for some.

Dembele is kind of trash. Fati again, we just hoping he is able to start a full season.

More like decade of hope and ifs and buts, when you think clearly.

If Haaland is getting on board with that, then fine. Let's see if he alone can drag us to titles

Very interesting, and a very young lineup, which is both good and bad. Can't see Ilaix becoming a starter until at least 2022 as he's not as developed as Pedri or Ansu.

I agree with both of you but you have to realize we are broke. So if we need to bet and hope I am fine with that as long as we bet on talented youngsters. All of the players above have an immense amount of talent so even if only half of them succeed it will be great. Next summer we can sign additional 2 players and in 2023 another 2 or 3. We should realize that our plan should be to have a world class squad in 2 or 3 seasons. Therefore, patience is needed. If Messi decides to stay, this squad (with Alaba and Haaland), is more than OK for the next season. Also don't forget Pique and Busi will still be here so they can jump in when needed. I am fully aware this line up can't win CL for the next 2 or 3 seasons but it would be an exciting start for sure.

I also agree that Ilaix is young but if he won't play he won't develop. Imagine if we sign Wijnaldum. We could end up with Pjanic 2.0 who will take all the minutes from Ilaix and Puig. I'd rather save the money for Haaland and risk with youngsters. Also let's be realistic, at the moment we can't sign a WC midfielder. There is no one in the market that can be signed for a reasonable amount. At least no one who could improve our squad immediately. We can try to sign players like for example Brozovic who is entering the last year of his contract this season but than again players like him could end up like Alex Song. With all that in mind betting on youngsters is probably the best decision we can do right now.

i realize our current financial position is not that good to make a couple of good transfers.

i was just asking if haaland would want to come here when he could go to city where he'll have an already world class squad behind him and a legendary manager on the bench. he could maximize this good period for city and bag a couple of easy ballon dor's along the way. maybe become their greatest player ever.

Well maybe he doesn't want to live in rainy Manchester who knows. :D I guess will see. I honestly hope Laporta can turn this around in our favor as he has a very good relationship with Raiola.

If Mbappe ends up in Madrid and Haaland in Barca La Liga will become more interesting than Premiership once again. Consequently, a huge amount of money will come along.

I don't feel like he's the most loyal player. Considering he's basically got every big club to choose from, I think him and Raiola will play it smart and choose the best club for him short term. If it's City I'm sure Raiola will want to include some sort of clause that doesn't give City all the power over him.

Doubt his next club will be his where he stays until he's 32. Could see him switching clubs 2-3 times before he's 30, including the switch from Dortmund.

No big team, even City will agree to a low release clause like that.

Not every player is like Zlatan. Raiola has had several clients who stayed at one or two clubs most of their careers.

Heck even Ibrahimovich would have probably stayed at Milan for the rest of his career when he left Barca. He didn't want to join PSG, but Milan had no choice but to cash in on him and Thiago Silva as they were struggling a lot financially.

It has nothing to do with Raiola or Zlatan, it's just my gut telling me that Haaland will want to try different leagues, so I might be horribly wrong.

Don't you think City would accept a 180-200m clause after paying 75-100m? If it was either that or not signing him at all? Not like the market is full of promising CF's better than Gabriel Jesus at the moment.

Haaland has the upper hand in negotiations. Almost every top 5-10 team need a striker this summer or the next.

Norway is nothing but rain and clouds, so he would feel right at home in Manchester.

I don't think City will do it. They'll rather pay more to Raiola or Haaland than not have the leverage in a situation he want out.

Er ikke du fra Tr?ndelag? Er nok litt bedre v?r nede ved J?ren/Bryne selv om det ikke akkurat er S?rlandet heller.

Yeah there's always the money factor that pulverizes any sort of logical thinking, so there's a risk of that yes.

Laporta needs to pull a rabbit out of the hat and sign him. Signing him would be a massive statement from Laporta but also the entire club.
