If Pep doesn't win a CL with Haaland, we could say:

1. he can't win it with a false9 because no one can score
2. he can't win with a true no9 because he loses movement and a total domination that way
3. the only way how he can win it is: false 9 Messi at Barca with Xavi-Iniesta and with other teams in a CL not knowing yet how to defend against that style

Hope

The credit of excuses will run out if Pep can't win a CL now.

But don't worry 'Arry Kane is available on a free next summer. Maybe, just maybe, if it all goes tits up again then Pep can squeeze another player out of his pauper owners.

Pep is kind of damned if he does and damned if he doesn't with the ucl. Winning it at this point is an "achievement" but more so an expectation. Excuses will be the same, small margins, defence let goals in too easily blah blah.

It's always the same lol. Pep should never have any excuses to not win the CL considering the teams he's had over the last 10 years.

But somehow no matter how good the squad is, at some point in the knockout stages, his defence crumbles like a biscuit.

Expectation because of the insane resources he has at his disposal.

Since he moved to City, Real Madrid have reached 3 CL finals and Liverpool have reached 3.

Manager wise Klopp has reached 3 (Won 1 and 1 pending), Zidane has reached 2 (won 2) and Tuchel has reached 2 (won 1).

Basically he has been as successful in Europe as Mauricio Pochettino.

So there has to be the expectation to win it given 3 other managers have reached more finals (and won it) since 2016. It also removes the arguement of luck being involved.

Pep would've been sacked if he was in charge of PSG, club prioritising CL win. He has been underwhelming in that regard. Lucky City has other priorities.

At the same time, Ligue 1 is a joke, while winning EPL with this Liverpool-side behind them is still a good achievment.

Is it? City spent about twice as much as Liverpool. They have the squad to go 38 games and not be worried about injuries, fatigue or anything. City has 50m back up players, and Liverpool are one Van Dijk injury away from possibly bottling top 4 (literally what happened last season)

Liverpool have spent plenty as well.

They broke world record for a GK and a CB and have 200m+ on attacking players.

Liverpool do a vey good job of picking the right players that fit but have still spent to make it happen.

If Liverpool spent plenty, City spent double that amount.. is my point

Not saying Liverpool are some kind of underdog team, it's just that competing with City is very unfair financially

His release clause is 60m euros btw and not 75m.

Salary reported to be same as De Bruyne's. 375k per week.
