Ernesto Valverde - V1

DonAK

President of FC Barcelona
He also took 5/6 years to win a trophy at United which wont be offered to EV or anyone else.

Different times now JamDav. Both Real Madrid and Barcelona go in with an expectation to win the league every season and when you're in a position like this, not having proven your record at the same club before, and lose the title after building a sizeable lead it will get ugly. He might not get sacked, but he definitely will be on the hotseat for the next season. The players available at this club are far better than the ones at Atletico.

He need to change his approach a bit.

Come on, let's not compare Valverde with Ferguson, or this Barca with the United Ferguson took over.

If Valverde fails to win the league it's not only that he should be sacked in 2 seconds, but it would also be a historical black stain on his career as a manager.

What if he wins it?

Do you really think that simply changing the formation by adding Dembele and Couthino we will win the triplete ? is it really that easy ?

It's a great start. Dembele in his sleep adds more than Paulinho does. At least he won't be all over the pitch tackling his own teammates.

When you have an 11 point lead, and Madrid is not a threat of any kind, you can't be nervous about winning the league. It means you're not a very good manager.

We shouldn't even wait until the end of the season. The moment we fall behind he should be shown the door. Might as well give Xavi a few months extra pre season to get used to the team. Also at least give us an outside shot at the CL. Also of actually capitalizing if Atletico does manage to slip up.

Yeah different times which is why it is pointless comparing them.

It’s not like he had a SUPER career before Barca.

I wan this man out, really. Even if he wins us the treble this season I still want him out. I see no hope with him in charge, what exactly has he brought to the table?

His cowardly insistence on playing safe; his weird and questionable line-ups and decisions and timing on bringing in subs; his lack of confidence and trust shown in players, especially new players; his defensive, never-my-fault attitude and often clueless response in those press conferences. God he is making me so mad.

We will never integrate and develop players under him. If he could he would play a bunch of 30's known stars in every game just to win 1-0 and go for a 1:1 draw. He is the Mourinho of Barca, the new Mourinho of Barca that is making us play like shit. Who would recognize this team anymore? This is not Barca.

He's gone for sure if we fail to win the league. There's probably going to be a lot of friction if he continues to treat Coutinho, Dembele etc the way he has. Plus B-dog's not going to like EV wasting his 300m signings.

We would have lost this game under Lucho. 2-1. Valverde at least gave us that. But, we are Barca, we should anhillate opponents like this.

Winning the league this season is not a super achievement either with Madrid's implosion. But it would show promising signs for Valverde and a good start. But some of his major blunders lately, like playing conservative football away to some poor La Liga teams, basically defending in a 4 block in midfield and just giving the ball to Messi to just dribble his way through on goal... this is bad stuff.

He basically played this game like he played vs Chelsea in terms of tactics. Even the result is similar.

Again it is easy to say winning league means nothing but it completely ignores where Barca were seen as being at the start of the season.

This tactic of starting with best squad to seal it early I see popping up in a few posts now. Before the game however most wanted to see star players get rested because this Las Palmas is dogshit. Funny how that works.

There are no dog shit teams in la liga and who ever thinks now is the time to rest the players is nuts. We are entering the final rounds and now is not the time to loose the momentum. Sure we need to rotate, but make the safe bets. The likes of Vidal and Paulinho are not that.
This game should have been perfect for our 300M signings that haven't played much and are aching for confidence and adaptation.
