Atletico would not get rid of Simeone. Too much goodwill between the club and manager. Only way a managerial change happens is if Simeone decides he wants to leave, whether for a new job or he feels the team would be better off with a managerial change.

Valverde has been out of the game for so long. I am unsure he can crouch anymore, which would reduce his managerial abilities by atleast 80%.

From Spain's perspective, doubt they would hire a coach who's been out of the game for at least 3 years by the time the WC ends

His situation reminds me of Laurent Blanc.

Blanc went 4 years without a job after he left PSG back in 2016 even though he was a pretty respectable coach himself and was linked with a number of different clubs when he was jobless but never got anything more than Al-Rayyan job in Qatar after four years of sitting on the sidelines.

I have to assume he's probably waiting for a CL/EL level club to open up probably in Spain. I know he's been linked as a short gap at United and Leeds in England but at his age, he probably wants to stay in Spain more than likely now.

He'll probably go back to Valencia/Sevilla/Bilbao level team. If he gets Atletico job it will be a big success for him.
