Portugal kinda has solid team. Good at the back, good in MF and pretty damn good in attack. Iceland fucked evrryting up with that one goal in 95th minute. If they had gone against England/France/Germany they would be done.

Balon d'or is the least of the worries tbh.. Portugal win this and you know people are going to go crazy claiming Ronaldo is the goat. You also know people will bring up Messi failing on the international stage, while Ronaldo "led" an average portugal side to glory and him doing it in multiple leagues and on the international stage sets him apart from Messi.. If Portugal wins, I will have to stay away from social media and football related things until club season starts.

Getting , goal's , dropping deep if team/situation demand's ,unselfish plays , creating chances which need not be a assist. combination of all these makes one a complete forward. Not just goal's and assist. One can have a shit match overall and score a fluke goal , then people like Morten can reinvent himself from a 'Sell Ronaldo' to 'Defend Ronaldo' Mode. So i dont believe in that analogy . For Me Messi was a much better forward than Gotze in Wc final
