Why. Because you said so? Why is Le Normand worse than Guehi or Maguire (who always starts for England when fit).

Seeing as you mention Cucurella, England's left-back is that fraud Shaw who has been omnipresent for Man United's decade of failure, and had one good season in 8.

Morata is a far bigger tactical advantage for Spain, while Kane is a major tactical disadvantage for England.

Frankly, I think you're buying hype. Spain pissed all over them and that's not just because they have a better system. I have been proved right with their vast superiority.
Did you see Shaw today? He was England's best player.

When you say 'Morata is a bigger tactical advantage' that's discussing the two teams utilisation of the players, but we are discussing their quality on paper. Morata hasn't even been close to Kane in football and not even a discussion. You are comparing a guy with 210 Prem goals to Morata... no way.

If Kane is a tactical disadvantage for a team then need to look at the manager frankly.

'in terms of on paper England is surely better.'

In terms of hype in the English media. In terms of technique, ability in tight spaces, being brought up to play the passing game, Spain piss all over them.

Football is player on grass, not paper. FFS England have stunk out this tournament, and it's not all because of Southgate. How much more proof do you need?

The reason England lose is they're too wedded to the idea they have to play a dull and defensive way and are unwilling to change their footballing culture.

Their squad is more than capable of playing attacking and dominant football yet they continue to choose boring managers who grind out results.

I don't think Spain's team is better or even close to being better and they totally outclassed them today simply because they play their style of football and happily took control of the game when England allowed it. The difference is tactical and generally cultural.

Whenever anyone criticises this, people say 'England has never been good' and so and so.

It's changed at the youth level though, so much so that much more talents are coming through than the Spanish and that they usually beat Spain in the youth Cups.

Difference is that just like France that their manager is from an archaic age (De La Fuente is too, but he has come through this Spanish style which is the nations total football).

If they invested these 8 Southgate years with manager that fits with their new youth development program then they would play much much better.

But hey, I'm not complaining. The more they fail the better.

I am not disagreeing on Morata and Kane, I am talking about how they play for their teams.

If Shaw was England's best player then that sums up everything that is wrong with them. And on that note, did you see Cucurella this entire tournament? He played really well. The fact is neither of them play well for their clubs. I have watched Shaw for a decade and he's been consistently poor for a poor Man United team. Why does he deserve a pass but a younger Cucurella gets destroyed?

And, again, what makes Le Normand worse thsn Maguire or Guehi? Other than the fact you are far more familiar with the English two? Explain why they're better? You can't, other than some tenuous stuff like 'they play in the best league in the world'.

How was shaw England best player? If he was it's a pretty low bar, he did well with Yamal mainly because they overloaded that side.

He certainly wasn't better that Cucurella

That's it, the players have the ability to play good football, but there needs to be a cultural change from the top in hiring managers who try to play attacking football and not relics like Southgate.

People will point to the players being overhyped but a lot of them have performed outside of England too and in the CL, we saw Bellingham this season with Madrid, with England he looked like a traffic cone.

Their whole setup and institution is doomed to failure and underperformance until they start trying to make use of their talent properly.

I think it is the opposite.
England started to get results the moment they have accepted they aren't meant to play a confident ball, thinking they are the big side. Their worst result under Southgate is a one that was the best with a far better generation at the start of the century, with coaches like Capello and Eriksen.

And one thing for sure, England had the worse squad today, regardless of the coach. In club football some England players might do better as now it is more physical, but in international tournaments technical ability stands more and Spain is twice the team technically

Bellingham was poor the entire second half of the season and most of the CL knockouts.

He's exactly what is wrong with England - a highlights and moments player, who will be invisible or dominated throughout a game, but can do something good in the box in the 2-3 minutes you are aware he's on the pitch.

He will never run a midfield while he has a hole in his arse. A moments player, like Gerrard.

Think Southgate struggled to fit Bellingham and Kane, which most managers would. They are similar profiles in terms of what they want to do on the pitch.

If it was the Kane of a decade ago- different story.

But England in that Spain setup with Watkins and Kane/Bellend behind him, two wings and Arroz con Whatever in behind. Would be excellent. In theory.

This guy gets it. Forget how well they do in the hyped up PL with their foreign mates. They're TECHNICALLY INFERIOR to Spain all over the park.
