Fantastic. We need a LB and we buy a LB. That's how it should be done. Hopefully this is a great purchase for us. I've seen Filipe play and he is exactly what we need in a LB; fast, good defensively, good on the ball, and can cross the ball.

So, this is the only guy who consistently gets mentioned in the media linked with us and who wants to come to us (other than the much better Zhirkov, ironically). Is he really Barca material? I haven't seen enough of him to make a concrete judgement, not on a national front either because he hasn't broken into the NT.

And Warik, while I haven't seen much of him, I have seen a lot of Zhirkov and he's just generally regarded as a much better player in general. 95% of the football fans I know can wax lyrical about Zhirkov but haven't even heard of Luis, I see it as one guy who plays for a small team in the spanish league, who hasn't made the national team yet, versus a guy generally regarded as one of the best LBs playing and who has impressed massively for club and country (Euros) and is being chased by big teams. It just makes sense.

Shouldn't write off players on what you hear. Evra was considered a small player in a smaller league then he went to Utd and people sat up and noticed him. People wax lyrical over Zhirkov who haven't seen him for the most part, and for me he always looks alot better as a LW compared to LB where he makes alot of mistakes in defense.

Reputation plays too much of a part in peoples views of players I feel. Zhirkov is more known so peple assume he is better automatically. They'll put Filipe off because they haven't seen him. For me not being called up by Dumbasss Dunga isn't a terrible thing as Alves struggles often for games there aswell, and we all know how good he is. Sometimes the best players are the ones people have little to no real clue about. They then turn into world beaters. Read Evra, Ireland, Diego Milito and more...
