I don't agree. For motivational purposes, you need to know how to motivate. But a coach can appear quiet and know how to do that. But boring, quiet speeches hardly motivate anyone, in any profession.

I watched a documentary the other day about Bon Paisley, you could barely have got a less outwardly passionate manager but the players believed in him and they were willing to die for him

On the flip side you have the likes of Dicanio who shows passion beyond belief but players dont like him.

You cant motivate players not matter how passionate you are if they dont believe and respect you.

Being liked and respected also doesn't mean you'll be able to motivate your team. For example, see barca vs bayern, both legs.

You are changing the debate. Originally you stated quiet managers who dont show passion cant motivate.

The point is they can and do with plenty of examples.

This.

There may be quiet managers who are good at motivation, but Tito clearly isn't one of them. And when it comes to motivation, passion is definitely an advantage.

I never said "can't". I said it's harder.

Pep was full of passion and was having a hard time motivating the players. It is not a problem that arrived with Tito.

I know I am in the minority but I still believe Tito can be the right man providing he makes the correct tactical changes and takes tougher decisions in the bigger games to show who is the boss.

He cant pander to keeping the likes of Xavi sweet and needs to stamp his mark on the squad.

Tito himself didn't seem to care too much about those games, considering the substitutions and lineups he made.

He didn't care? Right. I think he was so flustered he couldn't think straight. Showing he is not capable of being a coach for a team like this.

Of course he cared.

He waited too long to make changes but it barely would have affected the result. Hopefully he has learned from it.

Considering how he managed to motivate everyone for the Milan tie, he obviously didn't put as much into it for the Bayern game. And to the person who said that the players motivated themselves because of "the challenge of overcoming an 0-2 deficit" why didn't they do the same thing for a 4-0 deficit?

That makes no sense. He motivated them for the milan game, but then lost interest on the CL? Milan was an easier game, and the most important thing, Messi was fit. Losing him was a big blow to the team. And Tito didn't know how to deal with it.

I'm not saying it makes sense, but at any rate I didn't really mean for the conversation to go this way; all I wanted to say is that you can motivate people just as well without being loud (which is not the same thing as passionate, you can be quiet and passionate) and that I think Tito knows how to motivate people.
