Mesa ex Las palmas player with an extremely superior technical quality . Would have fit in like a glove for us in his peak .

Will have to look up his highlights! Cheers mate.

Anyone else?

"What are some of the Players that you would have liked to see at Barca (but for whatever reason didn't come?) "

Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry's former teammate :D Brilliantly exquisite technical skills. A real joy to watch. A toss up between him and Laudrup for the title of "Northern Europe's Most Technically Gifted Footballer of All Time" imho lol.

Laudrup wins it Imo .

I'm a club football man through and through. Only watch international football during World Cups. He did well with PSG these past couple seasons.

Laudrup was better.
Laudrup was a player with a bigger impact on a field and on results, imo.

Laudrup: 5 seasons at Barca=4 La Ligas
2 seasons at Real=1 La Liga
Total: 5 out of 7 La ligas for teams in which he played as a key player

Bergkamp: 3 EPLs in 11 years for Arsenal, even though they had Henry, Overmars, Vieira etc.

Also, Laudrup won even CL in 1992 with Barcelona.

Bergkamp had silkier first touch and some nice dribbles, but Laudrup was a man with a better end product and impact on a field and results.
And his technique was also awesome.
Awesome IQ, a leader, mentally strong, not a pushover either.

Funny thing about Laudrup, fans today would probably say: he is not a player for us because he is too tall (183) and doesn't look like a classic Pep's 170cm tall, light, technical midfielder.
Yet, 183cm Laudrup was a brain of Cruijff's Barca.
So, no, our midfielders don't need to be 170cm short all the time:

** Our Dreamteam died when Laudrup has left us for Real Madrid.
He won 5 La Ligas in a row (4 with Barca, 1 with RM).

Thanks mate. Believe me, I enjoy Laudrup just as much as any Barca supporter out there. He was a Barca player (one of the most technically gifted of them all). That says it all really.

We never did see Bergkamp in Blaugrana. So yes absolutely, Bergkamp is someone that I would have liked to see in Barca.

A compatriot of Frenkie de Jong :) #thedutchinfluenceinbarca

You are the only guy who is fixated on height - No body ever claimed that we should not get players who are tall. People kept saying that we need technically gifted players not that we needed short players!

The pioneer in attributing importance to technical aspects of a player - Johann Cruyff himself was no shortie - Nor was the guy who brought tiki taka back to relevance, Pep Guardiola or his best ever discovery, Sergi Busquets, who has been the symbol of Tiki Taka!!

Somehow I get the feeling that BBZ is short. And he feels that he never made it as a footballer because he didn't have the size or physicality for it.

:sherlock:

(joking of course)
