90ME doesn't sound too impressive for me either. It would be really hard to cover his exit and improve the squad further with that.

Struggling Barcelona 'are ready to sell midfield star Frenkie de Jong for ?75m with Man City a possible option', as the cash-strapped Catalans look to raise funds for boss Xavi to spend in the January window . DailyMail

We have been struggling to find the right spot for Frenkie.
I would be ok selling Frenkie IF that money were invested wisely.
Unfortunally Barcelona does not know how to do that and will invest it in players like Olmo, Sterling, subpar LaLiga players or buying back LaMasia players that were never good enough.
Would rather have Adeyemi for leftwing, Coman for right wing.
Sell Dembele and get a CF.
Get Simons back maybe.
Still need a DM.

Exactly. Selling Frenkie to buy Sterling/Olmo is a road to disaster.

I'm pretty sure that's rubbish. Nobody in the club in their right mind would let Frenkie go. The only somewhat experienced midfielder and the profile we struggle to get - athletic, good stamina and work rate for 90+ minutes. He is a very classy midfielder under the right coach. Let's face it - if we were looking to buying FDJ out in the market right now, do you really think we could afford him? Barcaforum would be salivating at the idea of having this guy in Barcelona but lamenting that there is no way we can afford him, let alone someone half his price.

You probably didn't read forum for some time.

A lot of our fans have turned their back to Frenkie.
More or less, he didn't reach expectations, he don't fit on any position, he is horrible in creation and attack, he is meh for TikiTaka game.
His only traits are athleticism, press resistance and running into players (with no real purpose).

He seems to be a player who looks eye pleasing, but when you dig deeper, he brings nothing.
The team play equally with or without him on a field.

About him and good coaches, he was good only at Ajax, so there is a high chance that Ajax played at 120% of their potential back then, every looked good in their system during the momentum and that's it.
Out of their system, he is very meh for 86m paid for him.
And since he is meh at defending and bad in attack, it is hard to expect any improvements from him.

Also, he is hiding in all big matches and a team is quite weaker since he is playing instead of Vidal and Rakitic.

And now, since we have Pedri, Nico, Gavi, who aren't Goats, but aren't much worse than Frenkie either, selling Frenkie for 90m and losing more or less nothing is not a bad deal.

De Jong brings plenty. Barcas most athletic midfielder. Scored/assisted 14 last season. Player who made most passes. Most accurate % of passes in league. Defensive stats in top 4/5 in the team.

Barcas best midfielder last season.

Wont get best of him with someone like Busquets as a sole in same side.

There is a reason so many top teams would be after FDJ. He is Barcas only world class player but like every player ever needs a team that suits him to get most from him.

Selling him is a failing of Barca more than FDJ and an inability to get past players like Busquets being central to the team at 33/34.

Exactly. Only real world class player. Every top team will line up to sign him.

We can't sell him, especially with Xavi. He could make him better.

Be as well selling him if Barca are going to be 433 with Busi the man midfield is once again built round.

Let him head to City with Haaland and see what Pep can do with him.
