Gerard Deulofeu

With a team leading 9 assists, little surprise that Deulofeu's lack of minutes has coincided with a dip in form/scoring for Lukaku

Perhaps Martinez' thinking is that even at nearly 29 years of age, Lennon can offer adequate contributions should Deulofeu be bought back from Barcelona

Coincided? It's the reason for Lukaku's drop in form in my opinion. However Lennon has been doing the business. Lennon has scored 3 goals and has 1 assist in those 4 games. His average whoscored rating over the same time is around 8. I think there might be a chance Deulofeu plays tomorrow night at Villa although Martinez does tend to stick with players when they are playing well.

He will likely Keep riding the bench, and I don't think we will consider bringing him back at this time or even Ever.

I don't know why Martinez just doesn't try playing them both. It's difficult for him to drop Lennon given the form he's in.

Martinez is terrible at developing him. He could be a direct, prolific left winger who would cut inside and shoot from distance, or give a killer pass (both things that Deulo can do well). But instead, Martinez is turning him into an old-fashioned winger who hugs the touch line and hits early crosses.

Still to blame for all Everton's conceded goals and Lukaku's missed pen though :coffee:

Dunno why all of a sudden he's been a benchwarmer. He's one of their best players almost every game he plays.

Lennon plays in his position and has scored in I think 5 of the last 6 and pretty much been man of the match in every game. He also works incredibly hard in defense. Typical Everton performance this season. We bossed the game with 10 men, went 2 goals up, Rom missed a pen and we fell apart. He doesn't play 2 wingers. Mirallas only played because he went 3 at the back to get Stones in the team. He may do that again but with Chelsea and Arsenal our next 2 games I would doubt it.

Even more bizarre when you consider we don't have someone that can play on the left side and he has been using midfielders and strikers there all season.

That's what it has looked like which isn't good for the player or Barça...Questions will be deservedly asked if Martinez has actually improved the play of any of his players since his arrival

You do realize he isn't a player that belongs to Barca? As for defending Martinez. I'm past that point.

You apparently don't realise Deulofeu is effectively on an incentivised loan & Barça continue to have the right to recall/buy him back
