He's 26, and it happens to some players. Torres was busted by the same age just before the 2010 World Cup. It gets to a point where you have to accept he had purple patch for a while and now just isn't as good as you originally thought.

Kaka went the same way at Madrid, struggled in his final season at Milan too. Ronaldinho a good example here too. Whether it be form, personal reason or simply lacking professionalism off the pitch, it happens.

Over the past few matches Barcelona have been pushed more than any other season, their defence is now taking a battering and the unbeatable aura is slipping away - as the defence are being more exposed, so are some of the players abilities.

How would explain his terrific national team form? He's fresh from a 2nd consecutive Euro win. Tactics are the issue atm not talent.

our defenders individually aren'tbad at all - the defensive system is failing though,look at our defenders with spain, they are solid.

He hasn't been terrific at all, Spain, like Barcelona in prior years, never get tested enough because they have so much possession. The Real Madrid contingent add much sterner defensive solidity to that team too with Arbeloa, Ramos, Casillas and Alonso, someone who actually has a clue what he's doing.

Barcelona play with an anchor man and yet they're still completely bypassed. Unless it's sorted out soon, they will get beaten by Milan again next week IMO

Pique is a great defender when he's paired up with the right CB. He's a more passive sweeper collect-the-ball kind of defender and is best paired with a strong, aerially dominant and rugged defender with leadership skills. That's why when he is with Puyol he doesn't have the duty of leading the defense and can focus on doing what he does best. Same on the NT when he is paired with Ramos.

you are saying it like its nothing special.How propably one of the 5 best defenders in the world as the most say, dont have a big jump and be good at headers which is one of the things that reflects a CB...

Top five defenders? Pique would barely registere in the top 10. Terry, Vidic, Kompany, Pepe - even Varane are better centre-halfs than him.
