Busi in his prime got cucked by a Chelsea counterattack in 2012, dude never was known to be a natural DM. He is the most overrated player of the Pep era. It's a shame that other players like Dani Alves never got their proper praise simply because they were not La Masia.

Dani Alves is widely considered one of the best RBs of all time, though.

Pique is maybe a bit like Godin imo but for opposite styles. Godin was a very good defender who looked absolutely immense playing for that Atletico team which suited him perfectly. He was certainly one of the best performing centerbacks around and was talked about as the best defender in the world a lot, but he would never be my first choice in building a team because he would only be world class in that one setup.

It’s the same with Pique in the Barcelona/Spain teams. He looked like Piquenbauer in those teams which suited him perfectly when he was just a good player in the perfect system.

Busquets in his prime would not have been as effective away from Barca clearly. The team was perfect for his strengths and weaknesses.

But all top players ever thrived in teams built for them for their strengths so more or less irrelevant

You are the 'deluded one' if think Busquets would have been as effective in other systems. He was less effective from the moment Xavi and Iniesta declined but was still class at a lot of things.

Simple.

Why wouldn't he? As in he wouldn't know how to pass anymore? Or position himself?

Maybe what you are trying to say is that he would be surrounded by lesser players than what he had at Barcelona and they wouldn't be on the same wavelength as him. But otherwise I don't see why he wouldn't be good for other teams.

He played very well for Spain, in a double pivot with Alonso.

Go look at the difference in how dominant Busquets was for both Spain and Barcelona after Xavi and Iniesta declined let alone at another club in a different style.

Has been poor for Spain in every tournament since and been part of midfield that has taking multiple batterings in CL that he has been one of the culprits.

But luckliy for him he is one of best DMs of all time as all players are based on what they did do and not based on how would look on other teams that wouldnt suit them as much.

Pique maybe could stand in other teams and setting.
Busi? No way. He needed specific settings, like the ones Pep carved for him at Barca, and Del Bosque - copying Barca - at Spain

It is clear as day that is the case.

He has argument for being all time greatest DM in the team with Xavi and Iniesta. Since 2012? Absolutely nowhere near that level for Spain or Barca despite still showing a lot of qualities and range of passing etc improved or could show it more.

clear as day my ass. spain went to shit as a team. they're cycle ended. suddenly busquets was no longer himself because team was not the same?

he also had great seasons for barca after 2012, what the fuck are you talking about?

seems like pep likes to carve settings for other players too. like the one he recently carved for rodri(busquets lite) in his soon to be title winning side. yea, the EPL would have destroyed busquets.
