We are set up to have our fullbacks as our main creative attacking outlet.

Kounde and Balde combined don't have a single creative attacking neuron in their brains.

This team needs TAA, Robertson, Hakimi, Davies...type fullbacks. Ones that can take on opponents on the wing, create and be an attacking threat.
This. Our fullbacks are atrocious. Lamine has to combine his flank with fucking KOUNDE.

Did we?
We had the exact same points last season.

Cut it out with flick worshipping.
He's a bum
And we won away just a couple of days ago against Dortmund do you remember? something no other coach has done int 3 years, sp not all doom and gloom right.
I see that there is still some Xavi left lovers still in here, almost sounds like you are rooting for Flick failure? oh no say it aint so?

We've scored 19 more league goals than we did at this stage last season and conceded two less. So from an attacking sense generally decent improvement, defensively no progress.

I don't think it's shameful to admit that Xavi had a kind of pragmatism and league knowledge that Flick lacks so far. It's pretty obvious. They are different managers. There is a reason Xavi liked more control and more focus on defense. It's easier to beat these sides if you hold the zero on conceded goals.

Flick has wanted 2 new full backs for a long time.
The problem is we are broke. We have no squad depth and once again we are in crisis mode.
Cancelo would have definitely been useful in this scenario. For me Balde is the weak link. Kounde is serviceable but Balde is no good enough.

If our attack works well the defence will be no problem. A perfect example of that is today's match. Leganes scored 1 goal, it's not more than teams like Sevilla, Bayern, Villarreal, Girona, Mallorca managed to score. But the main difference is we managed to score as well in those games and our attack was doing incredible job. Today our attack was far from its usual level, unexplainably shit.

Everyone can agree the way we have dropped points against the mid table sides is unacceptable

Part of it is the players, part of it is Flick not having the guile to fight these Liga shithouses tactically.

They need to go on a 10 game win streak to make up for these pathetic results of late, but I don't see it happening with this team.
