I'm not buying tis anymore tbh.

All the media reports is Barca this and Barca that. Absolutely nothing from the Arsenal end of things which makes sense since the guy is on a six year contract and Arsenal have their hands full with multiple contract situations with other key players on their team.

Arsenal hold the keys in this transfer and they have absolutely no reason even start negotiations with us.

Bellerin can't really complain if Wenger and Arsenal tell him "No we aren't selling you and we need you here" If he wanted to move he shouldn't have signed that long term deal 7 months ago.

He looked happy then, he talked about how he loved living in London and how he didn't want to entertain our offers and stuff. But it seems like once everything went down hill that season for Arsenal, he quickly changed his tune about it.

In this situation I can't blame us for not going through with it and Arsenal and Wenger for not selling because frankly, Bellerin was the one that decided to sign that long term deal and it's all in their hands and Wenger made it clear he has no plans on selling him.

I mean tough shit man it's how things are.

Most people here didn't believe Valverde's appointment, either. :D

Well, there is a big difference between Valverde and Bellerin. One was the most easy attainable coach from the outside (so not considering Unzue; and while I understand people being skeptical about Valverde I believe we've made the right decision hiring him) and the other has just recently signed a new contract with his club that won't him let go for cheap.

People didn't want to believe we'll hire Valverde because they didn't like him but deep inside them everyone knew we'll end up signing him for at least 2 weeks before official announcement. I have a totally different feeling about Bellerin. Yes, I wouldn't like us to sign him (the only way I'd accept him is if Arsenal pays 50M to us and also accepts all our rejects like Douglas, Vermaelen and Tello as part of the deal ) but as said before I think he's just used as a smokescreen for our real target here. Catalan media is going crazy about him for known reasons and I won't be surprised if Sport and/or MD will still have Bellerin on their frontpages on the day we'll sign Semedo or another RB that currently nobody is talking about. Remember that almost all our signings last season have come out of nothing. Only one with a longer transfer saga around him was Paco and that was mostly due to the mess in Valencia and him in reality being our 5th or 6th forward option after other players like Dembele and Vietto have rejected our approach because we couldn't guarantee them minutes behind MSN.

All that said, I think if in the end we'll buy Bellerin his transfer will be constructed similar than Gomes's. So around 35-40M in fix fee with another 10-15M with relatively easy attainable add-ons (winning La Liga and qualify for quarter/semifinal of CL; BTW, I fully expect BBZ8800 to jump in and say we won't win anything in the next 5 years or so ) and possibly another 5-10M with more unlikely gettable bonuses like him winning Balon D'or - which we know it won't happen even if he'll turn out to be the next Dani Alves for us - and other smaller individual awards like being selected for UEFA best XI etc,... Those terms would be much more acceptable than paying straight 60M or more.

Should we start sending our scouts to the 100m Olympic sprints? Could possibly be cheaper to try and convert Yohan Blake into a footballer instead of negotiating with Arsenal.

Barcelona Transfer News: £40 Million Hector Bellerin Bid Reportedly Readied
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...illion-hector-bellerin-bid-reportedly-readied
Barcelona are reportedly ready to offer Arsenal £40 million for Hector Bellerin, their former defender and top target in the summer trade window.

40M £ is around 46M Euros.

As predicted, if we buy him, it will be around 50M Euros.

Our board promised us "a star signing" this summer.
So, here it is :bartomeu:

Our rivals are on their knees.
Barca is unbeatable again.

These are my expectations, too. No matter how crazy they think the market is, Bellerin is not worth 40M, not even 30M if you ask me. Cosmic fees are affordable for sugar daddy clubs like Chelsea, Real Madrid, Man City and PSG. Also most of Premier League clubs that survive thanks to the 2 billion $ TV market share.

Griezmann was saying the exact same at Atleti, even called out specific Spanish papers who said he's considering leaving then pulled a complete 180 and almost boarded the plane to Man Utd all the same.

Like ... I really hope months of media linking Barça with Bellerin turn into dust and he stays in England but until the transfer window is over, these words mean absolutely nothing.

The thing is ..... speed is one of THE most important aspects of modern football - attack and defence in particular so having arguably the fastest player in the world certainly works for me . He shattered the Arsenal sprint records of long standing , including Thierry Henry's and Theo Walcotts .

I've seen him so many times , he's great breaking forward and/ or overlapping plus he's more than adequate in defensive situations , I've also seen him making ridiculous runs back into defence to cover for team mates errors and making fantastic last ditch tackles nobody else would ever manage .

Please let this mean what I think it means...

Best not believe anything or anyone tbh.

After the Van Dyke controversy the other day the player himself apparently deleted all aspects / connections to his club , West Ham on his Facebook and Twitter pages ....presumably in anger / disgust at the move collapsing - then it all got mysteriously changed back a short while afterwards ... presumably at the suggestion of his agent / advisors .
