If I remember correctly, it was Tito's. The "dm who can play cb" stuff being the determinant reason, and because Keita left. This was a really bad call, to put it mildly.

He was great today against inter, and scored a nice header.

He was only going by good example of Mascherano. Argentinian was voted as our 2nd best player of last season. Didn't turn out as planned but it was a rational decision by Tito.

I don't think it was rational, based on Song, as he cannot play cb. I don't know if he had played there for arsenal. The rational thing would had been to get a proper cb, and use masch as dm cover, if necessary.

The impression I got from the presser was that Tito wasn't particularly aware of who Song was, but he had been told by Zubi that he could play CB.

And it's true, he can play CB. He actually started as CB in France. He's just terrible at it and the first thing Wenger did was placing him further up the pitch.

Tito doesn't need to be a football buff. Plenty of excellent managers aren't. Zubi should at least have somebody in his team to warn him when he's making mistakes because he doesn't know what he's doing.

the whole fact that is so stupid and i dont know how would they think that is that they wanted Mascherano clearly like a CB and they got a backup for Busquets in Song after Keita's departure.I mean is it so hard for them to understand that this thing doesnt have any chance to work? and now i hope for them to see Vertonghen's perfomances and think what they lost..and even worse now they are looking for average uknown defenders like Abdennour. Its really pathetic

I have been wondering who is responsible for the acquiring of new players at our club for a while now, and can't understand there seems to be no pressure on that position. In Holland, the technical director as we call it is under a lot more pressure from fans, coaches and the media than Zubi seems to be.

Zubi is just a mannequin for Sandro. Same as Txiki was for Laporta. That's just the way politics work. They need a former player beside them to look good for the fans. I don't mean to belittle those guys but I doubt they had much, if any, business or management experience before they got the job.
I'd wish Barca held interviews for important positions, like for proper jobs.
Having said that we can't be too unhappy with signings but I would like us to be smarter on the market. I definitely can't imagine what it would be like for Barca sports directors if we didn't have 8 starters from La Masia and the stature where basically everyone wants to join.

If Tito didn't push enough for CB, then I blame Tito, too. If he wants to repeat Guardiola's success, he must be tougher. But the fact that we didn't buy a CB, tells me that Tito didn't push enough at all. So, for me Tito is for blame, too.

For what I remember from the newspapers last summer, Tito was pushing hard for Javi Martinez, who, while not particularly amazing when playing CB, did make some more sense as a signing.

He is a dm, like Song. That's what they clearly wanted, a dm who could, in theory, play cb. Bad call, as they snubbed Vertonghen and Hummels.
