Jordi Alba

A backup LB is really a weird issue. In theory, we have Adriano, Montoya and (let's pretend for a moment) Abidal. But Abidal is not match ready, Adriano is injured most of the time, which brings us to situations like this, where we have no backups when either Alba or Alves is injured. We bought Alba because we needed someone to take Abi's place. But if Alba can't play, we're back at square one.

What we need is another solid option who can play left back and centre back. That's what Abidal always provided and is what we've missed.

His name is Vertonghen, and Barça could've gotten him for 12 mi last summer, but got Song instead.

Hi, its me..
Official: Jordi Alba has a small thigh muscle tear and won't play against FRA on Tuesday, he returns to Barcelona

According to the doctors of the Spanish football federation, Jordi Alba will be out for two to three weeks

Alba will have more tests in Barcelona, but he's certainly not available for next two games, including the CL away game against PSG

he got overplayed by our coaches. he had the chance to rest but our coaches keeps on playing him when Montoya and Adriano are both good backups for him.

that was all about, but we didnt gave a single fuck for Vertonghen...they bought Song instead of a very good CB who can also play LB,sometimes i wonder how they think...

I know a lot of guys will immediately stand up for the club, the staff and whatnot, but I gotta agree with Meitux. Sometimes I wonder if they're having a gun pointed to their heads while making these ridiculous decisions. Buying Song is one of them. Overplaying Alba (and others), too. The lack of rotation in the past few months is not strange, it's inconceivable. Sometimes I have a feeling that half the forum could make more logical decisions than the ones being made this season by the staff. There's must be some politics or something like that involved, because I can't honestly believe they're not figuring this stuff out as quick as the rest of the world is.

exactly i mean yeah, most would say who are we to criticize them the coaches of barcelona and bla bla bla.but still they make stupid decisions and unnecessary like song, instead of buying the very cheap for his standards Vertonghen and Mascherano be backup for busquets. They wanted to make Masche a clear CB and get Song as backup for dm and to play him CB at times ffs, sorry but thats really stupid from them and even now that the problem is getting bigger i dont see them trying to spend many money for a quality cb because it doesnt exist..and they are looking for average players like Abdennour..

Why am I not surprised?
I'm with you. First Puyol, then Adriano, and now possibly Alba.
Why are we always so unlucky with injuries. Seriously, fuck this shit.
Unlucky was RM when they had their 2 young, not injury prone WC LBs injured at the same time. We're not unlucky..we just have a bad management. Bad from the moment that they found out that Abi needs a liver transplant, bad when they decide that Song is a good CB and bad in the way that they managed the minutes of the 2 injury prone defenders, the 2 young defenders and the new guy who played 2 tournaments in the summer.
We would benefit enormously from buying a defender who's primarily a CB, but could step in as a LB if needed. It would cover our CB shortage problem, and provide us with another option if something like this were to happen again. It would also be a good combination to have with the very attack-minded Alves on the right.

David Luiz, maybe?
A 12M Verthonghen would have been perfect and Frank de Boer was practically begging Zubi to buy him, but he decided to do another charity work with Arsenal.

Within a week, we lost 3 defenders, all of them can play on LB.

Alba has returned to Barcelona today and will see Dr. Cugat to see how long will he be sidelined. But he's missing the 1st game at Paris for sure.

Guess we'll have to play 3 at the back without Alba, so Pique Bartra and Masch. Won't happen though especially away from home.
