Kylian Mbappé

Just face it: If Mbappe stays at PSG his entire career he won't be considered among the world greatest, because he will only have league titles and no CL's. People will forever ask how good he really was, as he wasn't tested in a strong league week after week. A bit like all the players who goes to China: They can score as many goals as they want, but they can't measure up. As things stands right now, on an individual level he can't even beat players from much stronger leagues to the golden shoe, even though the French league is so weak that it's unfair competition. In the golden boot-competition Ligue 1 should count 1.75 or 1.5, tbh.

He's already considered one of the worlds greatest players. Hence his being the second most expensive player of all time and earning third place in the Ballon D'or at 19 years old. Mbappé is a world champion for christ sakes. The first teenager to score in a final since Pelé, and already carries a better goal scoring record in the knockout stags of the World Cup then the greatest players of the generation that precedes him.

Just face it: No matter how much you hate PSG, or how little you think of Ligue 1, Mbappé is already recognized as a prodigious player. He doesn't need FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, and certainly not La Liga to earn the respect and admiration of the world.

He was huge as a talent. Not as a player. Madrid was rumored to be willing to pay 180m. because of what Mbappe can become, not for what he was back in 2017. Teams now pay a lot of money for big young talents like Mbappe, Dembele, Frenkie de Jong etc.

You need to make a distinction between great talent and great player. Mbappe has a lot to prove in the Champions League this year. He did prove at the World Cup that he is a great talent, but now must lead PSG to Champions League glory together with Neymar.

As an 18 year old Monaco player Mbappé bagged 6 goals in the champions league to help them reach the semi-finals, scoring against Manchester City, Dortmund, and Juventus. In other words, he's already proven himself at the highest level of European competitions, as he has on every level of football. That's why Real Madrid was wiling to break their transfer record for him. There is no comparison between he and and Dembélé, and even less so between he and Frenkie de Jong. They are great talents. Kylian is a great player.

Nice troll job you fucking muppet.

How is speaking facts a troll job? FC Barcelona has had an awesome run over the last two decades, and is currently lead by one of the GOAT's, but Madrid is still the worlds premier club in terms of titles and notoriety.

this is sarcasm right?

Mbappe is playing for the most stacked country in the world and a club with no equal in Ligue 1. he has unprecedented power at such a young age, he cost a fortune so he'll never have to fight for his place in the team and hes stayed in his comfort zone. leaving Monaco to join their rivals in PSG isn't ambitious, even as a Barca fan i can admit Madrid was the move to make and thats why he'll still be sitting on 0 CLs come the end of this season

Is this sarcasm?

He was ambitious enough to score in a WC final. He doesn't need to win the UCL at 20 years old to be recognized for his talent.

Mbappe is an incredible talent and outstanding player, but not he is not a top 3 forward. He is not the top forward on his club, nor country. Neymar and Griezmann are pretty much the equal goal scorers with a lot more refinement, full field vision and better passers. He could be better down the line but not yet.

No one in France values Griezmann as much as Mbappé. Pretty sure the former only had one goal in open play during the WC. Most of his goals came from PK's.

Yes frequently causal and not so causal fans severely overreact to small events. (A goal nicks in, a goal nicks out, player is great, player sucks). Just see how this group of Barca fans are incredibly biased for some sets of players vs others, typially underappreciating a lot of little things vets do and thinking the junior player can be just plugged in there and the team will function so much better.

Maybe those in France don't value him as much because they focus on 10 seconds of highlights instead of the total play. Griezmann is a great creator and link up player whether he has the last touch in the net (which he does quite frequently even if not a lot over a 4 game stretch in the WC) or whether it is the decisive pass. He also tracks back and can be sneaky winning his team the ball. That player irritates me to no end, e.g., stupid dances (now worse that he strung us along last summer when he could have said all along he was staying), but he is great player that impacts the game in lots of ways.

You’re suggesting that the French don’t know their own players? Or that you’ve watched more of them than they have? Kylian is also a great creator and link up player btw.

Jair is like a drone. whenever a bad word is uttered about anything related to PSG hes on your ass in a flash, its like theres a botnet of Jair's hes that good at it

Mbappe is a great talent and hes achieved amazing things especially scoring in a WC final but to put him anywhere near Messi? and actually above Ronaldo? that looked like sarcasm to me

Yet you’re the one with 3k post since 2017...

He can have a better goal scoring record in the WC KO stages without being better than Messi or Ronaldo. Stop trying to put words in my mouth.

oh just fuck off  seriously you are so petty, every post follows some little childish insult. not going to respond anymore its pointless as others said

you are a PSG fan (troll) on a BARCA forum where the majority of posters either block you or argue with you and you have 3k posts... you probably have a beeper in your pocket ready as soon as someone posts in the Mbappe/QSG/Neymar thread

You comment on my activity and then get defensive when I point out that I’ve been here two and a half years longer than you, yet we have the same number of posts.

No insults, just facts.

You don’t have to be a Barca supporter to contribute here. This has been repeated a thousand times already yet you’re still whining about it. Get over it already.

my comment was a joke and actually a complement in a strange way, honestly I admire how much you defend your team hence my comment 'hes on your ass in a flash', you don't flip flop like some of the other PSG 'fans' here.

why would i be defensive about having 3k posts since 2017? what am I supposed to say to that? 'Givenchy, you need to get a life!' I'm a Barca fan on a barca forum nothing to be ashamed about and i've seen you saying the same shit to other posters regarding post count

I don't care about you or other fans on our forum and i have nothing against you personally (you actually do provide good analysis on Ligue 1 talents), its great to get a different perspective, the Madrid fans here are awesome for example but all you do right now is instigate drama and for what? I agree theres hate on PSG/li6ue 1 here but its mostly banter

Mbappe is a great player, he scored in a world cup final - thats an achievement for ANY player let alone someone his age. its my opinion though that he shouldn't be put up there with Messi and Ronaldo.. yet. to me, his move from Monaco to their league rivals PSG wasn't an ambitious move on his behalf.. its in his comfort zone, is that a fact? no its an opinion. if he had stayed at Monaco and they managed to retain more of their players maybe Ligue 1 would be competitive this season

See, I respect these kinds of posts. We have can have healthy banter this way. If I misinterpreted your post I apologize.

But, this is what I will say. I am not always innocent, but from my perspective, I'm not the one instigating the drama. I hardly comment in Barca threads. I don't insult your board or your players. I feel Messi is the GOAT of his generation and one of the greatest players of all time, etc. Even when PSG lost out to Barca with FDJ I congratulated you all and left it there.

On the other hand, I don't believe Ligue 1 sucks or is a farmers league, and I don't believe it's far below Serie A or the Bundesliga. I don't think Neymar is irrelevant, or that he's ruined his career, or that he's a cry baby. I don't believe PSG has ruined football or inflated the transfer market, and I feel the animosity people feel towards Qatar is hypocritical. I truly believe these things and I defend them, and in doing so I draw a lot of hate from Barca supporters. I don't believe that makes me a troll, nor does it reflect me intentionally creating drama.

As I told Joan earlier, I don't want to have these conversations everyday either, but PSG is hated here.

Well I watched the Euros and WC and Griezmann IMO was the best player on the French team both times. I know he didn't rack up the goals in free play but that doesn't mean he wasn't sucking in the defense (which helps KM immensely) and everywhere in connecting the attack. Similarly one of the other PSG posters went on length recently on how Neymar is the most critical player to that attack as well. This certainly jives with whoscored rating both for ligue 1 and CL. I could be wrong, don't watch PSG much outside of CL but it seems to me Neymar is the opponents 1st problem they try to address.

So if you ask me right now, if I wanted the best team today, I would take Griezmann or Neymar (two top 6 players in the world) over Mbappe. But Mbappe is only 20 and already is a great player. Maybe I'm wrong, let's see how the CL plays out (really curious on Atletico-Juv, and see how PSG reacts to pressure and am improving MU who is just playing with house $ and no expectations) and maybe proves Mbappe time is now.

- Mbappé didn't play in the Euros. He was 17 years old.

- France played a counter attacking system in the WC that was heavily dependent upon Mbappé's ability to break open defenses with his pace. Which is why he lead their forwards in open play goals(also drew a penalty against Argentina). There wasn't a lot of interplay between their forwards, as Matuidi was played at LW(positioned lower than the other two forwards, in a lopsided formation) in a defensive role.

- Neymar is obviously better than Mbappé, but Griezmann isn't Neymar. The latter is far more influential, especially when played as a 10.

- Speaking of whoscored ratings, Mbappé has a higher rating than Griezmann in the WC, the UCL, and domestically.

Wouldn't use whoscored ratings across leagues.

Safe so say we have different opinions on Griezmann and I think a lot things he does a lot of things offensively and defensively causal fans don't recognize. I think he is as (or nearly) as influential as Neymar. I'll reserve to change my mind after the CL.
